Harrison – Elkhorn, WI, Class of ‘94”, which I would like to get back to family members. This Cabinet Card photo was taken in Whitewater, WI in 1894, and Fred looks to be about age 20. This obviously was taken at his college graduation in Elkhorn. I found Fred A. Harrison in the 1900 census for Ashland City, Ashland Co., WI, and he was a high school principal. He was single, age 26, and his DOB was listed as Nov 1874. If Fred A. Harrison is in your family, email me at margerice@prodigy.net.

It is loaded with clues, but we are at a brick wall. Can anyone help please. "My great grandfather Robert Kincaid Erwin was married to Diana "Anna" Harrison on 26 Nov 1838 in Trumbull Co. Oh. I have the married record on them from Trumbull Co.. According to the granddaughter of Robert and Diana she give the birth of both of them in Youngstown, OH. Robert had a couple of brothers, Abramham and Alexander both born in 1820 and most likely twins. In the 1850 Bristol Twp, Trumbull Co., Oh census I find Alexander living with his family and right next door is a Ephraim Harrison and wife Margaret Ephraim is 67 and born in MD. Margaret is 64 and born in PA. According to the 1860 Effingham, Effingham Co., ILL census Margaret is now living with daughter Diana Erwin and family. but it shows her as born in MD not PA. On Margaret's grave stone in Effingham Co. it said "Grandmother Harrison mother of Ana Erwin 1768 - 1864" The dates can't be right on the birth. In the 1860 Effingham census she give her age as 76 and if she died in 1864 as the stone suggest then she is 80 or born in ca. 1784. I believe the stone to be wrong. Next door to Ephraim and Margaret Harrison in the same 1850 Bristol Twp census is a Ephraim and Priscilla. Ephriam is born in 1827 and born in OH. As you can see all 2 families living side by side and Ephriam and Priscilla just a few door away.. I was thinking that just maybe our William could have been a William Ephriam Harrison? Not a bit sure of this. Robert and Diana lived are living in Boone Co., IN in the 1850 Census but the name is spelled wrong - Irwin, but right family. According to a story told to my cousin in 1944 which he wrote down, "William fell dead while working in a hay field". This is the same story that Monte advised us. In the Wood Co., OH history he sent Carolyn and I the history of S. P. Harrison. "Simon .P. Harrison a successful attorney at law of North Baltimore, was born April 23, 1849, his parents being John K. and Mary a (Reepsumer) Harrison, the former of whom was born in Harrison Co. Ohio, July 26, 1816, the latter born on Oct 22, 1818. The paternal grandparents of our subject were born in Cadiz, Harrison Co. OH and moved to Indianapolis, IN., where his grandfather died from sunstroke in the harvest field on July 4th. They cam from the same stock as Benjamin Harrison, ex-President of the United States." We believe that John K and Diana are brother and sister. There is one more sister to Diana that we are sure about and that is Mary who married James I Poulson in Harrison Co., Oh on Jul. 30, 1829. Then moved to Kosciusko Co., IN and is buried there. A couple of more interesting notes. In the same notes that my cousin took down in 1944 it states from my grandmother that her grandmother Margaret Harrison was a Perrin-Parry-Perry-Parrin. As you can see we are not sure of the spelling. One of the children of Robert and Diana was Margaret Jane Erwin who married a Ira Henry Harrison who was born in Cadiz, Harrison Co., Oh. Boy we have seen Cadiz before! We believe that Margaret Jane and Ira maybe cousins. As one more daughter by the name of Verlinda Alice Erwin married a Nathan Perry in Jul 1874 in Cumberland Co,. ILL right next to Effingham Co., ILL. Now could Verlinda have also married a cousin named Perry? I haven't been able to track this Nathan Perry. He was born in 1855 in OH and they had 3 children and can be found in the 1880 Shumway, Effingham, ILL census. We also see a Verlinda Harrison who was married to a John L Layport. In a IGI record it shows the father of Verlinda as Ephraim and Margaret Kincade Harrison born in 1807. Could be another sister to Diana, but the Kincade throws me off. Note the Kincaid family runs deep in my Erwin line. You can find more about this family in the OHIO Valley Genealogies page 71 under Conrad Keesey.! In this history you see Harrison Co come up again and also Acola, ILL which is just a little bit north of Effingham Co., ILL. Just maybe our Verlinda was name after this Verlinda Harrison? You just don't see this name used must. I have a old photo of my Grandparents taken ca. 1877 in Effingham co., ILL and in the photo are two Harrison girls. One is Senea and the other is Nata Harrison and is is marked as nieces. My grandmother, mother was Diana Harrison also known as Anna. This is good stuff: From the Harrison Telegraph Newspaper 1821: David Moody tavern permit $3.31 Of william tingley, clerk of the court the following fines Robert Carson, for assault and battery, assesssed by the court $3.25 John Ault ditto $23.25 William Harrison ditto $5.00 The Country Treasure, Cr 1820 June William Harrison for attending on the grand jury $3.00 From the Ohio County and Family Histories, 1780-1970 Fayette County, General History, page 284 "It is said that the first tavern in the county was kept in 1810 by William Harrison, on the Parin lot, north of the court house, in an old cabin which is still standing, occupied at by ---------Parvin." Wow this knocks me out! Should we be looking for a Margaret Parin?" Please contact me if any of this looks like you have seen it before. Thanks! Happy Hunting, Court courtcurtis@usa.net

All the scrub and thorns have been cut down, the nice dogwoods, pines and ceders trimmed. Over all the plots have been groomed and the next step will be to spray the weeds and poison oak/ivy.
