Tom, Thanks for your reply to my message. I can say that I have also considered variant name spellings - it may originally have been Aertsen. Reason: John Keech HARRISON married Mary Corsen. Corsson/Corssen is a Dutch name. Her immigrant ancestor was Cors Pietersen from Langerarer, Holland, to New Amsterdam. He settled near where Battery park is now on the southern end of Manhattan Island. I have done a little research on the Aertszen name. There is a Jan Aertszen (b ca. 1636) of Brooklyn and Flatbush that had descendants in the North and Southampton, Bucks co PA church records that may be a clue. I posted a quick database report. Take a look. http://www.wellswooster.com/harrison/ Let me know if it helps. Don At 05:10 AM 4/9/2005, Tom Harrison wrote: >Greetings Don, > >I write in response to your recent genealogy posting. Hi, I have found it helpful to join JewishGen (go to Cyndi's list and join the list). Keep in mind that the name BERG quite frequently was a suffix on the original name. And then, there are mine who changed their name entirely .... maybe more than once. Her father Philip Loring Gillett died in Utica NY about 10 days earlier. They were both buried in a family plot in Colorado Springs. In her father's obituary in the New York Times, she is called Mrs. Robert Harrison of Barre. The notice in the Colorado Springs paper does not mention her husband's name.
