He was supposedly born about 1769 in North Carolina. He married in 1796 to Rebecca Ramsey, and he died in 1837 in Lawrence Co., Mississippi. I believe he is the same Jeremiah I found in the 1790 census in Iradell North Carolina, living next door to a Nathaniel Harrison. Jeremiah and Rebecca had 9 children (I believe). Rhoda, James, Jemima, William, Mary, Green, Albert Jerrymire, Almeda, and Rebecca.

You told me where I can get Peyton Randolph Harrison's will, but you gave me some idea of what I will find in it. I appreciate that. At some point I will probably want to check out what children were still living at the time of the will. I have a list of 7 or 8 children. One person who was not on this list was Jabez Harrison. I'm trying to confirm by some other source, other than Jabez Harrison's obit in IN, that he was in fact a son of Peyton. Because I also show a Jabez Harrison of Madison Co. VA listed as a son in George Harrison's Madison Co. will of 1822, and this Jabez later signed off on the said inheritance. It would be strange if there were two Jabez Harrisons, not exactly a common name, born about the same time and living in the same county. He's not my direct ancestor, but this has long puzzled me. Anyway, thanks for your help. Elinore

    1. Re: Mary (CORSEN) HARRISON, PA, 1700's
    2. Don Bryant
    3. Jeff, Thank you for your helpful reply. I agree that the Corson book is referring to the same Mary/Maria. (daughter of Benjamin CORSSEN & Blandina VIELE). I did spot the middle initial discrepancy for husband John "L." HARRISON. I am just not sure of his correct identity. The Bible record seems to be more specific than the CORSON book, since it is written out as Keech. But then, the Bible record it is still a transcription, so one never knows. Maybe it was Leech? My current efforts to sort it all out. John Elias Keach HARRISON (Revitt, #2) was born circa 1712. He died in 1747 at Hatboro, Philadelphia Co, Pennsylvania (Elias Keach's only daughter Hannah married Revitt Harrison, of England, whose son, John Elias Keach Harrison, came to America about 1734, settled at the Crooked Billet, now Hatboro, and was a member of the Southampton Baptist church). His estate was probated - Joshua Potts served as a co-administrator of the estate of John Harrison in 1748. !PENNSYLVANIA GAZETTE, 06/09/1748 (John Harrison estate notice). Evidence for this identity: The widow Mary/Maria in the Corson book married as her second husband Abraham Bennett in 1751, so the death date of John Elias Keach HARRISON agrees. The locations are right. Elias is an obvious family name. John HARRISON, a grandson of John K. HARRISON named a son Refferd - perhaps a variation of Revitt? and another family name? Evidence against this identity: I haven't found any reference to a wife or family of John Elias Keach Harrison of Hatboro. Still looking! 3. My great-grandfather was born in 1853. He always said Charleston, SC. The earliest date I can find him is 1874, when he signed his marriage contract using the name Louis Harrison. His family was Jewish and I found the name "Aryeah Hamer" and his father's name, Noah. This was in Florence, SC. I have searched for ANYTHING prior to 1874. He said he attended "Marion schools and Wofford College." They have no records for him. It is possible his parents came to America in 1850 by way of Barcelona, Spain (that may have been their point of departure, not their residence). I have no idea what the family name originally was. I haven't a clue where they landed. If anyone out there is Jewish, with the name of Harrison, please contact me.I need your help. Caroline Harrison Byng

Yorkshire is a big county ... the biggest in the UK I believe and is broken down into Ridings [West, East and North]. One of the most common names in Yorkshire is HARRISON (and METCALFE > we have one married to a HARRISON!). So where in Yorkshire are your HARRISONs / MOUNTAINs from? Our HARRISONs are in the Bedale area, whilst our METCALFEs are from Northallerton, but our two main ones married in Burniston, which is on the North Sea coast, just north of Scarborough. Cheers ...
