Thanks for you reply to my brick wall. One thing of interest is the daughter of my William Harrison who was married to a Margaret had a daughter who was my Great Grandmother named Diana Harrison. She married Robert Kincaid Erwin in Trumbull Co., OH and then moved to IND in 1850's. They next are found in Effingham, Effingham, ILL in the 1860 census. Now here is the kicker. Robert and Diana are buried in the Ramsey Cemetery just north of Effingham. I have been there and seen the grave stones. Also Margaret Harrison is buried next to them. William drop dead in a hayfield in IN in the 1850's and is buried in a unknown grave in IN as far as I can tell. I have always believe that just maybe there was a connection to this line, but I am sure that the Erwin name was not change and have the line on Robert's family. As you will note his middle name was Kincaid and of course the Erwins married the Kincaid line in Trumbull Co. and was very close to them and the Poulson's. Thanks for the answer and help. We are still looking for the line of our William Harrison. My grandmother always said the we were related to the good Pres. Harrison. Happy Hunting! This may not be that relevant but I've just come across a very fascinating recounting of the immense friendship between the William H. Harrison (pre his presidency), Sutherland, Ramsey, Findlay and IRWIN families in North Bend and/or South Bend, OH. Nancy Ramsey married John Sutherland and was his 3rd wife. Their daughter Mary Anne Sutherland married WHH's son, Carter Bassett Harrison in 1836. Nancy's sister Mary Ramsey married Archibald Irwin, and their daughters married right into the Harrison family. The Irwin girls (Elizabeth and Jane) met the Harrison boys (John Scott and William H. Jr.) at the Sutherland's and Nature naturally took its course. LOL! Elizabeth Irwin was the 2nd wife of John Scott Harrison (also a son of WHH's). Their son was Benjamin Harrison, the 23rd president of the U.S. Another Irwin girl Jane married William H. Harrison, Jr. (also a son of the 9th President). Seems like the Irwin girls and Miss Sutherland sure did their shopping in the right marriage mart! There were a lot of cousins marrying cousins at that time and these folks seemed to fall right in line with the practice. I'm trying to find out what happened to Mary Anne (Sutherland) Harrison after CBH died in 1839. It seems like she fell right off the face of the earth! LOL! Supposedly, she and CBH had one daughter, Anna Carter Harrison who married David Waddle McClung. Some sources report that they in turn gave birth to Anne Harrison McClung. AHM married Thornton Fitzhugh. They had a son James McClung Fitzhugh who died unmarried. BTW, Thornton Fitzhugh's parents were Anna Harrison Thornton and Lee Mason Fitzhugh. AHT was the daughter of CBH's sister Mary Symmes Harrison (daughter of WHH). See what I mean about cousins and cousins?! And everybody seems to have nearly the same names. It can be VERY confusing when you're trying to figure out who goes with whom. Anyway, it occurred to me that perhaps the spelling of your "Erwin" connections might have evolved from the very prominent "Irwin" family. Another Irwin daughter Nancy married William Findlay who was among other things the Governor of Ohio at one point. Jane Irwin married General James Findlay. He is listed in the 1820 census in Amsterdam, Montgomery County, New York, in 1830 census in Stark, Herkimer County, New York and in 1850 census in Stark County, New York. My line came from him via his son, Isaac Harrison. I have very little on Isaac also. I have Isaac being born 1833 in Stark, Herkimer County, New York and listed still there in the 1850 census aged 17 years. Sometime during the next 30 years he moved to Pokagon, Cass County, Michigan where he is listed in the 1880 census as 47 years old and a carpenter by trade. Needless to say, any help would be greatly appreciated. James B. Harrison

The book is a listing of many of the descendants of Thomas Barclay, father of Elizabeth Mease Barclay. Elizabeth married Peyton Randolph Harrison, son of Carter Henry Harrison and Susanna Randolph. They lived at "Clifton," a plantation in Cumberland Co., VA. In the early 1800's, Peyton moved his family, wife and children (and slaves) to Kentucky as did his older brother, Robert Carter Harrison. Here are the children of Peyton Randolph Harrison and Elizabeth Mease Barclay. They married Jan. 1, 1795, in Surry Co., VA. All the children were born in Virginia, in Cumberland Co., from what I can tell. 1. Thomas Barclay Harrison, b. Nov. 2, 1795 2. Eleanor Susannah Harrison, b. June 5, 1797. She married Benjamin Franklin Edwards. 3. Carter Henry Harrison, b. Sept. 30, 1798 4. Robert Carter Harrison, b. April 30, 1800 5. Peyton Randolph Harrison, b. May 30, 1803, died Oct. 2, 1804. 6. Louise (Louisa) Ann Harrison, Oct. 24, 1805. She married David Caldwell and then David's nephew, Austin Caldwell. She died sometime after 1877. 7. Robert Peyton Harrison, b. May 9, 1807, died Sept. 16, 1885, in Flatonia, Fayette Co., TX. He married three times and had at least 13 children. I am descended from him and his first wife, Almira Clementina Wilcox. I have read in a book on Thomas Barclay that Elizabeth bore 13 children, but was only survived by two. Certainly Peyton was only (apparently) survived by two children as well. I will email the Logan Co., KY, Genealogical Society to see if I can get some death dates for the other children.
Are there any Jewish Harrisons out there? My Louis Harrison was born in Charleston, SC in 1853. He married in 1874 and moved to Florida. He and Rebecca were Jews. Their first son was born in Olustee, Florida. After that, Louis and Rebecca moved to Lake City. They "retired" after 1900 and went to live near children in Jacksonville. If anyone is researching a Harrison that is Jewish, please contact me. Caroline Byng
