    3. HELP - I found some more info (confusing) on Luke HARRISON. this paragraph in the Harrison Heritage MUST be referring to the same family though we don't have this son Willie in our records. There are some conflicts in the names of the children and much conflict on places of birth for Luke and his children with the LDS records. But then again ... perhaps there are two Luke Ray HARRISONs being confused here! What is doubly perplexing is the marriage place for Luke and Martha HARRIS. anyone with info .... please ... can you help us? Their connection to BAILEY makes this line particulary interesting ... not to mention the TILLMAN naming pattern - remembering the TILLMANs in Brunswick Co., VA and AL :-) Our records: Luke Ray HARRISON, 1783. Born on 26 Feb 1790 in Wake Co., NC.[122]; SC??? died on 6 Sep 1873 in Killen\Florence, Lauderdale Co., AL.[122] Residence: Wake Co., NC, Lauderdale Co. Killen, AL. References: See:.[24],[92] Note that the IGI and LDS indicates that Luke was b. in SC. LUKE HARRISON married MARY (PATTY) __________, and his brother, __________HARRISON married MARY HARRIS of Virginia. JOHN TYLER HARRISON born SC ca 1811-1814, married his first cousin, MARY HARRISON, born ca 1811-1814. She was the daughter of MARY HARRIS above, and the sister of Luke. 1. Obituaryj -- Bessie HARRISON Parker
    2. Kim Day
    3. Idaho State Journal, 9-26-1999 POCATELLO - Elizabeth (Bessie) Harrison Parker died of natural causes Wednesday, September 22, 1999, at her home with family beside her. She was born on December 23, 1903, in Malad, Idaho, to Frank and Rachael Harrison. She was the second of five children. Her father was the town blacksmith. She was educated in Malad City schools. In 1925 Bessie married Frank Parker in Brigham City, Utah. He preceded her in death in 1990. They made their home in Pocatello where Frank worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. For many years they spent their summers in West Yellowstone, Frank doing railroad work and Bessie tending her grandson and managing a motel. They welcomed two daughters, Rae Louise and Geraldine; four grandchildren, Michael (Larry) Hanson, Lori (Buckner) Rothwell, Kris Thomas and Thomas Buckner II; and two great-granddaughters, Megan Rise-Rothwell and Heather Marie Thomas. Bessie was a positive, cheerful, sociable person who took pleasure in cultivating meaningful, lasting relationships with neighbors and friends. She had a delightful, wry sense of humor and a beautiful, contagious smile. Besides her family, her special interests included decorating her home, working in her yard, her bridge clubs and riding her bicycle until well into her 70s. She was a longtime member of Ruth Chapter #3, Order of Eastern Star, and was installed as worthy matron in 1963. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. Bessie was able to spend her later years in her own home, being cared for by her first-born grandchild. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, September 29, at 2 p.m. at Restlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Dr. Alex Nagy, Trinity Episcopal Church. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity Episcopal Church in Bessie's honor. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= I'm losing 1/2 to 1 pound per day! 1. Joshua Tarpley Harrison, Northumberland Co., VA
    2. Sally Haithman
    3. Hello, fellow Harrison searchers! I am descended from Joshua Harrison, born in 1810, in Virginia. He moved to Ohio, with his wife, Ellen (born in 1807, in Virginia), in approximately 1835. While in Ohio, Joshua worked as a miller. It is likely that Ellen was an enslaved African-American. Joshua was known to be a white man. While searching the LDS online database, I ran across a Joshua Tarpley Harrison, born in Northumberland County, Virginia, in 1785. His parents' names were Peter and Lucey. I am wondering if this Joshua Harrison was a relative of my great great great-grandfather. Anyone know about him?

    1. Re: HARRISON-D Digest V99 #184 (Wm Harrison b 1806 OH)
    2. Becky, I think I responded to your msg last time or more probably I started writing back and got tied up and never responded. There is mention of Lewis Harrison and the story that his father died trying to save his son in the Grant Co...IN Atlas. Lewis and family there (Leaches too) have always interested me because my Harrisons were from Clinton/Greene County OH and moved to Grant Co. abt 1834 and I have not found them farther back than OH. My William Henry Harrison is mentioned in the Grant Co. Atlas too but no relationship mentioned. It is a curiosity to me that WHH would name his first son John (thinking it might be an uncle or grandfather's name). I know that WHH was the son of Wm Harrioson and in 1820 he is listed as one of three sons in the Clinton Co., OH Census. I have no clue as to the siblings' names. Do you have any idea of birth or death dates for your John?? Janet In a message dated 09/27/1999 11:21:05 AM HARRISON-D-request@rootsweb.com writes: << I thought I would give it one more try. I'm searching for information about my ggg grandfather, John Harrison (wife unknown). He was born in VA, but died in Ohio while rescuing his son, John, Jr., from a falling tree. He had two other children - Sarah (m. William Leach and settled in Fairmount, IN) and Lewis, my gg grandfather. Lewis served in the Mexican War and was born 1808 or 1810 in Ohio. He died in 1860 in Indiana. He was married to Elizabeth Searl. They had three children. Luther, S., Rachel and my g grandfather, John S. D. Harrison. John was married to Elma Ann Templeton (whose second husband was Tom Dyson). Elma was a descendant of the Clanton Gang. Elma and John had one son, Laurence, my grandfather. Laurence was born on 5/9/1874 and died on 5/25/1962 - Laurence was married to Nola Butler. If anyone has a connection, please let me know. Thanks. Becky ______________________________ >>

    3. I am not able to be very specific, but "Settlers By the Long Grey Trail" by J. Houston Harrison goes into teh Sangamon ?Co. IL Harrisons, assuming that yours are from the saame fa,mily. Ezekiel Harrison was the patriarch there and his famikly and some relatives from Augusta Co. VA but whey had been in Christian Co. KY for a time before moving to Sangamon. Ezekiel was a veteral of the Frrench and Indian War and wounded at Point Pleasant. He was also former Sheriff if Augusta Co. VA and his ancestry goes back to Isaiah Harrison immigrant from England and son or Rev. Thomas Harrison, Purital theologian for Cromwell. It appears that Ezekiel and family more or less ran Sangamon County, County Sear, Springfield. When Abraham Lincoln came to town, the story goes, he called on his relatives back from Augusta Co. VA nd saught the hand of one of the Harrison girls in marriage, but he was rejected by the Harrisons as too funny looking and too "Country". His grandfather was also named Abraham Lincoln and he was of the same church as Harrisons in Augusta and married into the Harrison and Herring family. This family is well writtten up and I expectyou will refceive more detailid information from others. Dr. C W Johnson Tugger wrote: > Am looking for the family of Sarah F. 1. Missing Harrisons
    2. I thought I would give it one more try. Thanks. Becky
