    1. Hannah Harrison

    3. I am a descendant of Hannah Harrison and have been researching this family for several years. Unfortunately, some of my early research is lacking in documentation. However, what I found convinced me that what I have is correct even if I neglected to note the source. So here is what I have; take for what it's worth: 1. George Harrison b. ca 1678 (based on marriage date) died: NOv of 1713 in Westmoreland Co, VA - Will written in Oct. of that year and proven in court in Nov. m. Elizabeth Duncan, d/o Peter and Bessie Caldwell Duncan (Elizabeth named as wife of George in Peter's will) ca 1698 (from papers of George Sandford King housed at the Virginia Historical Society, Richmond, VA) (Note: George's son John was married to Ann? and had no child named Hannah) 2.James Harrison b. ca 1690 died 29 Nov. 1726, Richmond Co., VA - recorded in records of North Farnham Parish, Richmond Co, VA m. Mary ?(possibly Bragg) I have found Mary wife of James Harrison in Order Books with Joseph and Charles Bragg as her sureties. Doesn't really prove her maiden name. Issue of John and Mary: Hannah b. 1719 d. after 1742 (she leaves a slave woman to her four children in a deed dated 1742) m. John Taylor William Harrison b. 31 Dec 1719 ( North Farnham Parish Records, p. 41) John Taylor, s/o Simon and Elizabeth Lewis Taylor, b. ca 1703 in Rappahannock Co, VA (now Richmond Co) died 28 Feb 1740, Richmond Co, VA (North Farnham Parish Records, p. 95) m. Hannah Harrison ca 1726, most likely Richmond Co, VA Issue: Harrison b. 14 Sept 1735 (North Farnham Parish, p. 94) d. 22 Nov 1811, Ohio Co, KY ("Ohio County, Kentucky in the Olden Days" by Harrison D. Taylor [grandson of Harrison]) Simon b. 11 March 1728 (North Farnham Parish, p. 94) Richard b. 8 Nov. 1738 (North Farnham Parish, p. 95) Elizabeth b. 26 Sept 1731 (North Farnham Parish, p. 93) I think this family is sometimes tangled up with the "famous" Harrison family which was also in Westmoreland and Richmond Counties. I haven't found any Andrews in this Harrison family. I don't know where Martin Harrison Taylor comes from. People keep sending me this name with no source. I found Harrison Taylor in the birth records as stated above. All the deeds and orders I can find in Fredrick Co, VA where he lived before moving to Ohio Co, KY have Harrison, no Martin. There is no mention of Martin in Harrison's grandson's book. I don't believe Martin is correct. Hope this helps someone. Penny Woodford woodhome@erols.com

    3. This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------1876D4B942499FE801870637 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit i AI am forwarding from Betty Jo Hulse a writeup on Luke Ray Harrison which differs in some respects from other versions. This attrted our attention because in our Buncombe Harrisons we have a Luke R. Harrison but the R. does not stand for Ray but for Robinson. He is a son of Joseph Harrison and Margaret Hill, "cousins" to some degree of our Rev. Nathan Harrison. I would like to comment also that in Mrs Hulse's writeup she refers to the Anthony Harrison line as the parent line of Luke Ray Harrison. Others might call this the Andrew Harrison line. Worth Ray labeled it the Anthony Harrison line but my have overextended himsilf on that . He meant that Anthony was the father of Andrew in England, and a book writtten to show that to be wrong, probably. But the Andrew Harrison line is also the line of "The Venturers, Hampton, Harrison and Earle" though not described in the book. It gets rather technical and perhaps fuzzy. Worth Ray was also a Ray and wrote rather extensively about them and his Harrisons and he was from the Andrew Harrison line. Some of the Ray material of VA may also be discussed by him in his books, but I do not think he mentions Luke Ray as connected dto his Rays, though at least distantly they would be related by both being from Andrew Harrison. I have those books but find them almost mpossible to use because of my vision. The print is bery small and blurred and his indeces are surname only. Now I wonder if this Andrew Harrison line also includes the Westmoreland VA Harrisons. 3. Some Harrisons of Ohio were from the south and from Settlers by the Long Grey Trail Harrisons. Some of these were Methodists who were anti slavery. One such was Rev. Wasley Harrison from Augusta Co VA to Cocke Co. TN and on to Indiana and IL. A book has been done on his family. I found it in the library of Cocke County. Another is the John Harrison of the 1800 census of Buncombe and m to a Davis. Much wwork has been done on these Harrisons who moved to KY and dthen to Ohio. I think I recall an Isaiah Harrison of Ohio. I hacve no idea of a connectionbut probably is. 3. HI, Recent investigations into the name Luke HARRISON (THANKS TooFem!) of Lauderdale Co. AL have led me to the strong suspicion that John HARRISON b. c1778 (father unknown) is probably the brother of Luke Ray HARRISON and sons of John Footman HARRISON. This would explain the naming of Willis Lovell HARRISON as there are several Willis Harrisons in this line as well as the connection ot the LOVELL family. As it turns out Luke Ray and his brother Littleberry removed to Lancaster Co. SC before their location Lauderdale Co. AL. Some of their children were born in SC. John Footman HARRISONs sister Hannah m. Benedict MIDDLETON 18 Sep 1792 in Westmoreland Co., VA. I still do not have a good idea as to relationship of Daniel Reece HARRISON who m. Harrison says that a John Harrison who d. in Lincoln Co., TN, 1829, owning property in Lauderdale Co., AL, may be closely related to Daniel R. 1. Charles HARRISON b. 1830 England
    2. Beginner needs advice. I'm trying to research Charles HARRISON, born somewhere in England around 1830 (according to an 1850 census). He married Martha WINSOR in Oct. 1853, crossed the Atlantic between then and Nov 1854 when the first of 10 children were born (William Henry HARRISON) in Iowa. I'm not certain how to go about finding exactly where in England was his birthplace or who his parents were. I've tried searching Passenger and Immigration lists for 1853 and 1854 and I did locate one possible listing for a Charles Harrison but I don't know how to decipher it to verify if it is the Charles Harrison that I'm looking for. "Harrison, Charles Place : Philadelphia Year : 1854 Primary Individual : Harrison, Charles Source Code : 9297 Source Name : UNITED STATES, WORK PROJECTS ADMINISTRATION. Index to Records of Aliens' Declarations of Intention and/or Oaths of Allegiance, 1789-1880, in United States Circuit Court, United States District Court, Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, Quarter Sessions Court, Court of Common Pleas, Philadelphia. Compiled by W.P.A., Project No. 20837. [Harrisburg:] Pennsylvania Historical Commission, [1940]. 25 vols. in 11. Vol. 5. Letter H. 318p. Source Annotation : Called Section II, Alphabetical Index of Naturalization Records, 1794-1880, Maritime Records, Port of Philadelphia. Entries include names of applicants, countries of former allegiance, courts of record, and declaration dates. Reproduced from typewritten material. Only a few copies exist. Republished in one volume by Gale Research Co. as Philadelphia Naturalization Records, no. 2041. Source Page # : 85" Would someone be kind enough to explain... A.) If finding the source above would give any more details that might help. B.) If yes, then where would I find this source? C.) If no, then what would be the next place to look to locate his birthplace in England? Thanks for any suggestions, Judy
