Is anyone researching Harrisons in Missouri? I am intereseted in anyone, especially in either the Springfield, MO area or Kansas City, MO. If so e-mail me at kbedwell@bootheel.net. Thanks so much!
I know very little about teh Bucks Co. Harrisons or the New Jersey Harrisons or NY or New England, but I noticce that they share many f the same names as of the Harrisons of "Settlers By the Long Grey Trail" by J. Houston Hartrison. In that book Isaiah Harrison came to Oyster BAy, Long Island New York in the 1600's and later moved to Delaware and then Augusta Co. VA. The author rtells of other Harrisons in the New York and Connecticut area while Isaian was there and figures they were somehow related. When Isaiah Harrison left Eng,and'Ireland it was a good time for Harrisons in general to get out of town and come to America, especially those connected with Cromwell who wer e involved with beheading King Charles I. Isaiah'a father for instance was Rev. Thomas Harrison, Cromwell's Theologian and General Thomas Harrison was Cromwell's right hand man and called a "regicide " for being on the court which convicted King Charles I to beheading. Since King Charles II was assumingg the throne and beheading the beheadders it was good to escape his wroth. Another family in the same situation was Bradshaw. A Bradshaw was the chief justice of the court beheading the King. Both Rev. Thomas Harrison and General Th9mas Harrison were married to Bradshaws. I am suspicious without any evidence that the Northeast Harrisons were all related back home in England and Ireland. Perhaps also the Harrisons from Benjamin Harrison of Isle of Wight Co. VA was a part of this same bunch. Does anyone know of research on these possible connections? The name Miles Harrison does not exactly fit my description herein That is not a name wth which I am familiar, but I understand another Isaiah Harrison was also in PA. Is there anyone researching the Harrison family in Bucks Co., Pa??? I have only one Harrison, and can not seem to find any clues to him. Miles Harrison md Sarah Sellers in 1731. They were married in Hunterdon Co., NJ, but stated they were both residents of Bucks Co., Pa. I have a copy of the will of Miles Harrison, dtd Nov 1774, probated May 1775 where he lists only his dtr Ann who md Henry Ritchey. He owned 150 acres of land when he died and it was not divided until 1798, which is my guess for when Sarah (nee Sellers) died since 1/3 of the estate was given to her. At that time, the children of Ann Ritchey received portions of the property. Guessing that Miles was atleast 21 when he married Sarah, that would put an approximate birthdate at circa 1710. If anyone is researching Harrison's in Bucks Co., I'd appreciate hearing from you! Sincerely, Lorretta Sinclair

We are still stuck at that "brick wall" with our Harrisons, so far, from Tennessee. My husband Jon was born Jon Richard Harrison, June 23, 1941 in Murray, Calloway Co., KY to Walker Graham Harrison. b. March 30, 1914 in Obion, Obion Co., TN - d. February 18, 1999 in Paducah, McCracken Co., KY. Walker was the son of Lawson Wylie Harrison b. March 5, 1892 in Obion Co., TN - d. February 27, 1954 in Paducah, McCracken Co., KY and m. Ada Mai Graham abt. 1912 in Obion Co., TN. Lawson and Ada went by their middle names. They also had 2 daughters - Wylie Marie (went by Marie of course) b. April 2, 1916 and Helen b. August 9, 1918. Lawson worked in Lumber and they lived for a time in Memphis, Shelby Co., TN so he could work in logging. Lawson's parents were listed on his death certificate as Walter Harrison and Fannie Shields (probably Francis). Any further information would be greatly appreciated. We've been stuck here for nearly 2 years now. Thanks and good luck. Joanne Harrison ladyjays@wctc.net

Hello all! I'm looking for information on the family of Robert Johnston HARRISON, born around 1842-1844 in Nova Scotia, CAN. Was in California, USA by 1884. He was Naturalized in Fresno County Superior Court, CA., June 23, 1884. He was listed on the Great Voters Registration of Fresno Co, CA on Aug. 30, 1884 as a farmer. His residence at that time was: Colony. He married Mary SMITH of Ormstown QUE CAN, probably in the USA. They had three children, 1 unknown, and two daughters Alicia born 1881 and Katie born 1886, both in California. (Census info) Robert HARRISOn was on the 1886, 1890, 1892, and 1894 voters registration as being in the Central Colony Precinct, P.O. Address: Fresno. He did not show up on the 1896 or 1898 voters' registration list, so I assume he died between Oct. 1894 and May 1896. Robert Johnston HARRISON on 1892 Great Register, Fresno Co., CA voters' list: Age 50, height 5' 8 1/2"; complexion, dark; color of eyes, blue; color of hair, dark; visible marks or scars, none; Country of Nativity: Nova Scotia. (Voting) Precinct: Central Colony. P.O. Address: Fresno. Naturalized: June 23, 1884, Fresno County Superior Court. Date of entry (into voters' register): Oct. 7, 1892, sworn. On the 1900 Fresno Co, CA census, Mary HARRISON was listed in 3rd Twp., as a widow, occupation,l a farmer. Birth date was given as Sept. 1848., born Canada(FR), father born Ireland, mother born Ireland, to USA 1877, in USA 23 years. Not naturalized. Daughters: Alicia 18, and Katie age 14, live with her. Both daughters born California. On the 1920 Fresno Co Census, Mary HARRISON, is living in the City of Fresno, at what appears to be 1449 Amador(? tiny writing) Street, between 'E' St. and 'F' Street? Her occupation is 'Grocer / store'. Evidently she owned a grocery store? Her daughter Katie was living with her. Can anyone help with this family, or make a suggestion? Thanks, Joanne in CA

Repl to all three papers... great stuff abd tghus could be a good resourse to keep handy for repeated reference. #1 p1. The Ruthereford Co. TN Harrisons sound like ours with Gideon there but could be Beaufort Co. VA Harrisons, or others Lots of Harrisons in Overton Co. and others from Marylnd in good numbers Those in Blount County TN should be ours. There is record of Isaiah Harrison, Quaker, representing Blount County and another county in an antislavery meeting of Quakers. This would be son of Jeremiah but evidently not a Quaker for long and became a Methodist preacher, but is said to have come with a bunch of Quakers from NC to Grene Co. TN. Thomas Harrison with a pennsionin Franklin County is interesting . He would have been 42 in 1800, so possible he was Thomas of Buncombe, but not likely. William Harrison of Hawkins Co. could have been one of ours. p3. Numerous Harrisons from Halifax Co. NC . I guess this is close o eaufort VA, Same line? Reuben there, Wake County NC Harrisons numerous and here is Lovell and the Rays and Luke discussed a few days ago, so apparently their home was Wake County. Yheophyllis Beddingfield m Caron Harrison...Not very important but reminds me of Lt. Bedingfield from GA with whom I was stationed in Enid Oklahoma shortly after WWII was over...and we all wanted out, but Lt. Bedingfield had a special way to deal with his desire. We always called him Lieutenant because he would never get any higher rank and they culd not take away his commision else they would have to let him out of the Army. He was just out of his internshipaswas I. Theys ent him to special basic training for Doctors. He was very nice and ppolite but he just could not get anyth ing done. He would not get up in the morning for roll call or any function other than redreation. Though called on the carpet often, there was nothing they could do to him. Any lower rank he could not p[ractcce as a Doctor and it was only Doctors who were being held in service at this late date, involuntarily. So they sent him to Enid Oklahoma wher he became my assistant in the dispensary. He did not mind treating patients ad so would occasionally work and help me out but he did not want anyone to know he was working. He played golf everday and carried his golf bag to the dispensary to see if I was overworked and if not he would go play golf. He was a good doctor but did not want to practice in any situation where he was in command of a patient. A lot of his philosophy rubbed off on me. So, maybe he was descended from a Harrison! Wee have a Polly Harrison m Austin Hood 1807 in Wake Co. ..wonder about the Hood. Coleman Harrison of Wake Co. I wonder if the same as Colmore, also called Coleman of Jackson Co. GA...the same? p 4. Wonder about the Mecklenburg VA Harrisons. Many and I have no idea of family line. We also have Joseh Harrison m Sophia Bruant in Jackson Co. GA Michael Harrison m Sarah Grant in Blount Co. TN 1845, so more than one Michael Harrison I expect besides Becky Bonners Some marriages of Isaiah's sons in Greene Co. TN. ..Josiah and Caleb. p5. "Colonial Familes" Gideon Harrison m Sarah Woodruff. God to know. Nathan Harrison a Colonial soldier of VA and Nathaniel and Thomas, but we knew that. WE know about a Nathaniel who m Jemima Stewart in spite of her father's rejection of Nathaniel for being of mixed race and this was in Iredell? NC or nearby. He was a Rev. Soldier. Thomas Harrison was listed with (cnty-lt). I guess that means County Lieutenant, an official position of the militia in the county, I presume as Liason with the Militia and higher in rank than it appears. Probably one of those aristocrats somewhere in VA., but also a Private Thomas Harrison or two or more. p 6. Illinois Regiment (from VA?) Harrison, James Gunner. Does this mean James Harrison a gunner or the name Gunner or Gunter - that would bve interesting as a name. p 7. Lots of Harrsons in Franklin Co. TN. I think this is close to Greene Co, but south towards Chattanooga. And ther is a Thomas Sr. and Jr. of interest. Ours? #2. p 3. James M. Harrison b in Calvert Co. MD 1742 and moved dto Overon, TN , so presumably he was the patriarch of this Maryland Family to Overton. It appears that tthe Gunnels married to Harrisons wer of this line of Harrisons - generally. #3. p 1. Gideon Harrson of Rutherford Co. RN, a vete of the Revolution was of the VA line age 72 in 1832. But Joseph Harrison of Rutherford Co TN served in the Maryland Line..does that mean two lines in Ruthrford of Harrisons? Nathaniel Harrison of Blount Co. served in the NC line, but of course ther was no Tennessee during the Revoluton. It was paart of NC. And Thomas Harrison of Franklin Co. TN also of the NC line William Harrison of Hawkins Co. TN was of the Maryland Line, so not likely the William of early Buncombe. p2. But a William Harrison a Lieutenant of Rutherford Co. TN was in the NC Line and 84 in 1833. He could have been in uncombe and a relative. About once a year I try to pass this information along in this newsgroup, in the hopes someone might recognize the name or have a connection: Phoebe Emaline Harrison is one of those "irritations" in my family history. She's not linked to any of the other individuals with a Harrison surname ... at least no connections I can make. She was my great grandmother's grandmother. I have only, within the past year or so, pieced together a few bits of information on her. From her tombstone, in Poweshiek County, Iowa, I know that she was born on 2-20-1816 and that she died on 10-1-1887. From Census records I know that she was born in New Jersey. From family history it's indicated that she was "bound out" (indentured) to a family in Ohio when she was eight. That indicates that she was orphaned or that her family was poor, but in family histories she maintained a cousinship with President William Henry Harrison -- but this is not unusual with Harrisons from that century. She was married in Licking County, but I haven't been able to find any census records for the "Gilmore" family to whom she was indentured, and I've never been able to make a link with any other Harrisons. She married a John Bearnes, who was about 15 years older and who died about 15 years before she did, also in Poweshiek County. If you have some information or even the smallest hint of a clue I'd be very grateful. Other spellings: Pheebe Emiline, also listed as simply Emaline Bearnes in one census. Kim Day Boise
