    1. Indian genealogy

    3. There was 1 Harrison, a Thomas, who sued to obtain Cherokee citizenship in the late 1800's, claiming he was of Cherokee descent! There is a huge, complete full name index of all these people at http://members.aol.com/rarebk/ I also found a surname index to another Cherokee book at the site, an old book, supposedly rare, called Old Cherokee Families and their genealogy, with a lot of English names, but did not check for Gunter. I did have some names copied for me. There is some Creek Indian genealogy stuff as well. If you go there to the sites main page, click on the Booklists page, and then slowly scroll down past some old genealogy book titles until you get to the Cherokee section. There are some Cherokee genealogy books there, and at least two of them has this complete index posted. Quite fascinating! This individual should be barred from all mailing lists immediately. I notice that this message was went to Harrison-L-REQUEST@rootsweb.com in addition to the HARRISON-L@rootsweb.com. (and the same on other mailing lists) - this quickly indicates if this individual was interested in genealogy she would be aware of the use of the "Name"-L-REQUEST@rootsweb.com address and the fact this address will not contribute to her monetary gain whatsoever! 1. Sarah Lillian Harrison
    2. I am new to this site and would really appreciate some help as I am at the dreaded "dead-end" in my research for my maternal great grandmother, Sarah Lillian Harrison called "Lizzie" (according to an affidavid for my grandmother's birth.) She married Frank Wentworth5 Dyche (Alexander Boyle4, William Peter3, Lewis2, George Henry1), born 20 Feb 1866 in Ridgeway, KS; died 7 Jun 1940 in Auburn, KS. They married in 1885. Sarah Lillian Harrison was born 1 Mar 1865 in Mesopotamia, OH; died 13 Mar 1936 in Topeka, KS. I have written to the genealogical society in Mesopotania, OH and they find no trace of her there. They did find a William Harrison from Ireland in the 1850 census along with a Thomas Harrison, but there is no sign of Sarah. Children of Frank Wentworth Dyche and Sarah Lillian Harrison were as follows: 75 i Della Frances6 Dyche, born 5 Feb 1886 in Auburn, KS; died 19 Nov 1971 in San Antonio, TX. Data from Edie Eader, Frederick MD. 76 ii Alonzo6 Dyche. 77 iiiMy Grandmother was Bertha Clarice6 Dyche, born 30 Jun 1889 in Wakarusa, KS. Data from Edie Eader, Frederick MD. 78 iv Genevieve Pauline6 Dyche, born abt 1895. Data from Edie Eader, Frederick MD. Is anyone out there researching this line as well? Can anyone help? Thanks, Lynne Clark Roberson

    2. Beth Bond
    3. Hi all, I just joined the Harrison list to find descendants and info on two different Harrisons families, one directly in my line me the other indirectly connected. I will post about them later. The first posting to the list I received after joining was one about some commercial for some company. What is that? I thought this was a list strictly for genealogy. I have helped run a list for awhile myself, so I know it is not the fault of the listowner.Members can post anything. But I think the member posting should place her commercials somewhere else, or maybe she accidently posted it to this list. I am looking forward to receiving a real genealogical posting. Have a good day! Beth suntanr2@worldnet.att.net

    1. Re: JAMES HARRISON
    2. Charles W. Johnson
    3. There is a book about James Harrison and his wife Elizabeth Hampton; a very large book: "The Venturers, The Hampton, Harrison and Earle Families of Virginia, South Carolina and Texas" by Virginia G. Meynard; Southern Historical Press 1981 but reprinted several times since thn. , 1113 pages. This book does not go as far back in the Andrew Harrison Family lineage as does TooFem@aol.com in her response to you but other books do and other books and papers explore other branches not included in this book. Wort Ray in his books especially TENNESSEE COUSINS goes into some other early branches since he is from one of those branches. Also ther is controversy about the earliest Andrew Harrison in America. Worth Ray claims he was the son of Anthony Harrison, but a well documented small book, "A Comment on the Family of Andrew Harrison Who Died in Essex Co. VA in 1718" by James E. Harrison 1986. This book claims that James was the son of a Souseman (sausage maker) of London in considerable detail. I would like to point out that Elizabeth (Hampton) Harrison was the sister of Wade Hampton, considered the wealthiesst man in America, and James Harrison was quite wealthy also and so were many of the siblings and descendants. Dr.CW Johnson Johncbaird@aol.com wrote: > Seeking information on James Harrison who married Elizabeth Hampton ca 1750 > probably in Prince George County VA.. Names of James and Elizabeth's > children. Who were the parents of James? Any info appreciated.
