Lucinda Harrison was born 17 Feb 1855 at Mills Spring, Wayne Co, KY. Parents unknown. She married young to Jacob Elder of IN and they had two sons: Noble Butler Elder and John William Henry Elder. The family lived in Clinton and Miami Counties of Indiana, possibly other places as well. They were divorced about 1880, although these records have not surfaced. She later appeared in 1903 in Oakland, CA where she opened a maternity hospital, which may have later became a nursing home - and she also became a successful businesswoman involved in real estate and insurance. She died in Nov 1914. She may have had a sister named Leonora. I found a Leonora Harrison who married a Mr. West at Wayne Co, KY in the early 1870s. What brought her to California? Where did she get the money to build her hospital? Was she, as family tradition insists, related to the Presidents Harrison? Who were her parents? I've been told the courthouse burned and have not been able to locate her on any census record. Does anyone recognize this family? Followup to message from eoakes@blueridge.net: Regarding the Morgan Harrison shown in the 1850 Montgomery County TN census with wife, Ann and son, John, that moved from TN without his wife and son. He is later found in Jackson County, Carbondale IL. A cousin looked this Morgan up for me in IL and told me that he appears in the 1860 census there with a new wife and child, although, I have not seen a copy of this record. Does anyone know anything about this fella?

If you descend from Elisha, Reuben, or Morgan Harrison who where in Montgomery and Stewart County TN or think you might, please drop me a line. I am still trying to figure out who their father was. Their mothers name was Mary and she was born in VA. They also had a sister Cassandra. Their may have been other brothers as well. I think they are the nephews of a Joseph Harrison that was in Montgomery County in 1850. I am debating that their fathers name was William but need to verify it. I think Joseph's family was in or around Rutherford Co in 1840 - --------------------------------- Looking for any information on one Morgan Harrison.
