I am looking for information on the Harrison family, who founded the Tho & James Shipping Co. in England and joined with Chantel Shipping Co in 1853/4. They had lines to Belize. They had a son,or relative , William, who went to Belize and married a Rose Bradley. Any help with this, especially on the Harrison Family founders of the Shipping co and how William was related into this family. Thanks, Brian

I'm seeking information on the parents of two Harrison sisters who lived in and around Atlanta, GA., Elizabeth Ada Harrison and Emily Viola Harrison. Elizabeth was born in SC, probably in Abbeville on February 19, 1868. She married John Pinkney Hutchens in Augusta, GA on September 06, 1885. John was born on April 18, 1866 in Georgia. Elizabeth died in Atlanta on September 02, 1902 where she and John had lived for several years. A copy of Elizabeth's death certificate revealed nothing about her parents nor does the Hutchens family bible. Emily Viola Harrison was born September 14, 1861. She married James W. Newby on February 26, 1884 in Augusta, GA. James was born on January 30, 1854 in Abbeville, SC. The mother of Elizabeth and Emily died when Elizabeth was three years old according to family history. Their father died a couple of years later. A search of records in Abbeville and Augusta has not produced any useful information. Elizabeth was my ggrandmother. Thanks Ed Keheley Keheley@galstar .com

A. Harrison and Valentine Harrison were surveying in Kentucky prior to 1800. I would appreciate any information you may have about this man that could be added to the book. I am not ordinarily interested in purely geneological facts, but rather want to know about education, accomplishments, events in their lives, accomplishments by their family members or friends. Please send your comments directly to my e-mail: bud.salyer@mail.state.ky.us.Thanx, Bud Salyer xxx Robert HARRISON 1755 VA - parents? Posted by: Charlotte Stanley Date: November 16, 1999 at 07:56:51 cisco_kid@att.nte I have a Robert HARRISON (II) in my line, born 2-11-1755, died 7-8-1797, probably Prince George County, VA. Soldier in the Revolutionary War. Married Henrietta Maria HARDEMAN - they had four children: Sarah Elizabeth (married Thomas Mattox), Duke, Marcy, and Susanna (married Jesse Binford - and disowned because of it!) My problem is - an old genealogy that names his parents as Robert (I) and Elizabeth Harrison, and grandparents as Benjamin IV and Anne Carter Harrison. All of MY research says that Robert (I) and Elizabeth only had two sons - Collier and Braxton, so my Robert (II) can't be theirs. Or can he? Anyone know who his parents are? Way too many Harrisons with the same first name in Virginia, if you ask me! (And my mother was one of them . . .) Thanks for any help! I have substantial information on the following line if anyone's interested - Robert (II); his son Robert (III), wife Charlotte PRETLOW, and kids; his son William Henry (I), 1st wife Agnes HEATH, and kids, 2nd wife Mary BRYANT; his son William Henry (II), wife Annie EDWARDS and their kids - Charles Edward, Virginia, William Hartwell, Henry Rober', Herbert Heath, Robert Ambrose, Edward Valentine, and Hugh Wilmot. Hello MK, Thank you for the posting on the Harrison names in the GA Land Lottery. It was especially sharp of you to note the ones with given names of Harrison! Some of those caught my attention immediately. I am especially interested in the Benjamin Harrison Royster and the Terrell Harrison Royster. I wonder if any of you Harrison researchers have any idea of an intermarriage of the Harrisons and Royster family. My line of Roysters also has the Harrison name; my great-great-grandfather was William Harrison Royster, son of Henry Royster and his wife Frances Draper of Mecklenburg County, VA and Person County, NC. Henry Royster's parents were Joseph Royster and Nancy Ann Wilkins, of Charles City County, VA and Mecklenburg County, VA. Since my William Harrison was born in 1794, this was too early for the family to have been influenced by President William H. Harrison, as a namesake. Hello List, I want to thank all who responded to my request for the address of the Harrison Repository. The only problem is that my computer crashed and I lost all recent info (including many messages).... and everything I hadn't had a chance to back up...including the Harrison Repository address. I now have a new computer..so I think this will be the last request for this..haha. I won't dare ask again, promise! Thanks so much Kathy/MI Seeking Harrisons from Franklin Co, TN
E-mail to HARRISON-L is archived, and it is fairly easy to search the archives. Here is an example of how to find the repository in the archives. But the same technique can be used to find vast amounts of other information. 1. Go to www.rootsweb.com with your Web browser. 2. Scroll down about three screens to where it says "Interactive Search of Mailing Lists". It's under Search Engines on the left half of the screen. Click on the link. 3. It will ask you which mailing list. Type in HARRISON-L and click the Submit Search button. In some ways, I think this button is misnamed, because it is not really searching for anything yet. The designers probably called it "Submit Search" because in their minds you are searching for a mailing list. For example, if you misspelled it as HARISON-L, it would not find anything. 4. You are now at the search screen. You can't search the whole archives. You can only search one year at a time, and you have to pick a year. You will find that 1996 is pre-selected, but you can easily click on another year. For the purposes of finding the repository, I selected 2000. 5. Put in your search. For the purposes of finding the repository, I just put in the word "repository". For other, more complicated, searches, you can put in more words. I have yet to find the exact rules this particular search engine uses -- whether it uses "and" and "or" logic, for example, or whether it wants strings in quotes. I do know that there is no point in putting in the word "Harrison", because if you do you will simply get back every single email that was ever sent to harrison-l. So after clicking "2000" and typing in "repository", click the Search button. In this case, you will two hits. Click "Full" to see either one of them, and either one of them will tell you where the repository is. 6. I have searched on such things as "Reuben" and "Susan" and "Tennessee" and "TN" etc. -- anything that people might have put into an email to harrison-l in the past. One good thing to search for is surnames other than Harrison that might have married into the Harrison family. Dear Listers, I will be unsubscribing from all the mailing lists today for a while, but will be able to accept private email. I'll be away from my computer for a few days. I will be gone from Wed, Jan 12 to Wed, Jan 19.......I'll be going to see my dad who lives about 300 miles away in central Texas (Killeen). I'll be driving by myself, but it is a necessary trip as my dad (age 73) is having knee surgery Fri, Jan 14 and his wife (my step-mother) is having eye surgery Monday, Jan 17.......If all goes well, I'll be home, hopefully, Wed night....... .............ALL PRAYERS APPRECIATED.......... I'll be back online after I get back. I miss you all, already. Pam MONTGOMERY Pugh Orange, Texas pam3721@pnx.com
