Question for the List Moderator: Is it OK to post extractions of Harrisons in a county or is that duplicating stuff that may have already been done? I have a whole bunch of deed extractions of Bedford County, TN and wonder if I can post them. Thanks in advance, April A pack rat is hard to live with, but makes a fine ancestor.
We have a couple of Bell connections in our familial history: Jane M. Bell married Nathan Harrison before 1825 in NC; they both died in Murray County, GA. Jane Bell married John Valentine Harrison. Minerva Bell married Samuel Robert Harrison 03 December 1830 in Clarke County, GA. They lived in Walton County, GA - Samuel was a Methodist Minister. You didn't mention any dates of your relatives, but I think my Bells are earlier than those you mentioned. --------------------------- MK's Notes --------------------------- Alabama Marriages, 1800-1920 Barbour County Spouse 1 Spouse 2 Marriage Date Martin Harrison Mary Albritan 22 Oct 1856 Samual Harrison Lucia Weldon 14 Nov 1856 J. First appearance of Rebecca was in Charles City, VA court where she assumed the debt of her son, Gabriel (1) Harrison. His son, Gabriel (2) (d: after 1747) married Grace ?. Children: Nathaniel, Arthur, Benjamin. I am especially interested in her husband's name, DOB, POB, parents, and if she emigrated from England or was born in the Virginia colony. Also wondering if she might be a link for our Harrison line to the "James River" Harrisons. Rebecca has been a family mystery for many years.

Posted on: Harrison Pensions Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/HarrisonPens?read=17 Surname: HARRISSON, HARRISON ------------------------- For W. Vaughan-Lloyd My grandmother was an Edith Harrisson who came to Liverpool from Manchester in around 1905 and married a Francis McNaughton. Her brother was a Richard Harrisson who lived initially in Liverpool but, we think, went to London in the 20's. No tie-up with your names, but odd that there were other Harrissons in Liverpool at around the same time - it is an unusual spelling. I am in the process of tracing my Harrisson line and will advise you if I come-up with any connection. Equally, I would be obliged if you could keep me informed if you find any Manchester connections around 1850 onwards. Regards Richard Harrisson Burfitt
Posted on: Harrison Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Harrison?read=615 Surname: Harrison, Howard, Lytle ------------------------- We can't find our Harrison's. My great grandfather wrote notes, said his father was John Grover or Grove(s) Harrison, born in 1770 in Va. died July 5, 1871 in Jefferson Co. Ky. Married Mary "Polly" Howard Aug. 31, 1815 in Shepardsville, Ky. Their children were, John Howard Harrison, Samuel Lytle Harrison, Susan, Ruth, Elizabeth, and Patsy Harrison. They all lived in or around the eastern tip of Bullitt Co. Ky. The county line moved as counties were added, so they were in Spencer, Shelby and Jefferson Counties and the best that we can tell, never moved off the farm. The name "Lytle" has came up 5 times in our family, "Howard" has came up more. Appreciate anything anyone can find on these people.
Let me try this one more time! If this doesn't work, it's been nice talking to all of you! Barbara http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=tjdsjan

Hello Becky and Fellow Researchers, I recently received an email concerning the family of George Harrison which puzzled me a bit. The lady who sent it said that she had spent two weeks in VA researching at the state library and that she had found the will of Peter Duncan whose daughter Elizabeth married George Harrison. She also gave George's son James a middle name, Rochelle, which I have never seen in any documents. There were other items in her message which I believe were not correct. I have been researching this family for seven years. I live in Richmond and go to the state library regularly. I also go to Westmoreland and Richmond Counties on occasion as well as to the VA Historical Society. I would appreciate knowing the Will book and the page number where Peter Duncan's will is found. I have never found it. George Harrison Sanford King was a noted and highly respected genealogist in the Northern Neck of VA and his personal research papers which are at the VHS state that the will of Peter Duncan no longer exists. An article in "Tidewater Virginia Families", Vol. 4, page 246 by James Edward Harrison says "...Peter Duncan's will, which is among the lost records of Westmoreland County." I would also like to know what document gives the name of George Harrison's son as James Rochelle. I have never seen anything but plain James Harrison in any of the records of Richmond Co. including the North Farnham Parish Records. His wife was Mary. I believe her maiden name was Bragg, but I haven't been able to prove this. Richmond Co. Order Book 9 1721-1732, Reel 33 found at the LVA has on page323 two items which lead me to believe she was a Bragg. 1) "Mary Harrison relict of James Harrison dec'd came into Court and made oath that the said James Harrison departed this life without making any will, so far as she knows or believes, and on her petition and giving security for her just and faithful administration of the decedents Estate, certificate is granted her for obtaining letters of administration in due forme." 2) "Mary Harrison, George Harrison, and Joseph Bragg came into court and acknowledged their bond for the said Mary Harrisons just and faithful administration of the estateof James Harrison dec'd which is ordered to be recorded. Both of these items were in the court of 1 Feb 1726. I know that a Joseph and Mary Bragg lived in Richmond Co. and that they had Mary, Joseph, and Charles among other children. But whether or not Mary Harrison is their child, I don't know. I assume the lady is aware that there is another Harrison family in the Northern Neck. This would be the family of the "famous" Harrisons, such as Benjamin Harrison. Several given names are used by both families and this can be confusing. She stated that James's brothers George and William moved to Fairfax Co. George Harrison, Jr's will is in Westmoreland Co. and the inventory of William Harrison is there also. I believe members of Ben.'s family lived in Fairfax. This lady thought that James Harrison's mother had remarried, but she didn't know to whom. Since she isn't mentioned in her husband George's will, she probably died before he did. I know this is lengthy, but I felt like I should share it with the List since her message was sent to a number of people. I'm hoping they are List members. Also, I don't want to get into a personal argument with anyone. I have tried to carefully document my research. I do admit that I don't follow the Harrison line beyond James and Mary as I am a descendant of their daughter Hannah. Hannah Harrison married John Taylor, so I dropped my Harrison research at that point and concentrated on my Taylor line. I hope this message will help someone with his research. Penny Woodford
