    3. Posted on: Harrison Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Harrison?read=638 Surname: Harrison, Shy, Dillon, Mchaney ------------------------- In my prior message, I had listed William Harrison married Sinah Dillon; More information on each...Sinah was her nickname, her real name was Cynthia Dillon and William's full name was William Henry Harrison. It was reported by family members and William's son that he was a cousin to and namesake for President William Henry Harrison. I have nothing to verify this with...I have attempted to search all brances of The Presidents lineage to possibly find my connection...but to no avail, when I find a william of the right age, either he has a different wife and children, or no wife or enough info to verify the connection....is there anyone out there who has any ideas...this is my last large Glaring hole in my father's paternal lineage....Thanx for any & all possibilities. 1. Re: [HARRISON] HARRISON; PERRY; YARBROUGH
    2. Well, actually, I know that my HARRISONs were in Alabama, Texas (only for a very short time), and Mississippi. I suspect that they came from SC. My YARBROUGHs are from Alabama, and I thought they were from Georgia, but it looks like Tennessee. I'm told that they were in Texas also. If any were in NC, I haven't found them yet. I'm only to about 1830 on my HARRISONs and possibly 1850 on my YARBROUGHs. That's real iffy though. Lois

    3. I've never been there, but looking at the map, you're talking about Quantico National Cemetary--sounds big. It's near Quantico/Triangle--head south from DC on 95, below Dale City, but not all the way to Fredricksburg. Looks like about Exit 150/ Route 619W. I do believe some of those named are related, but until I can find out more about my William, I can't prove it. My William was part of the Canaan Baptist Church in Bessemer, Jefferson County, Alabama. He was a preacher at the church, but not the pastor. He is mentioned in a book I have about the church. Some of the marriages are people also members of that church (one reason I believe they are related) and buried in their cemetery. My William may have moved to Bessemer from Mississippi. 1. Re: [HARRISON] HARRISON info
    2. Susan, I saw your post on Middleton Harrison of Belmont Co. I'm also looking for Harrisons from Belmont Co. I have Terza or Thirsa Harrison who married William Dawson there in 1822. She was the daughter of Moses Harrison of Smith Twp. Do you know of any relationship to them? I have these notes on Middleton from the Belmont Co. courthouse if they are of any help to you: Sept 3, 1836 M. Harrison (I have a note here that this is MIddleton, but I'm not sure how I knew that now) to Eprain Harrison and wife, Eliza. 2 acres section 22 twp. 8 July 29, 1834 Middleton Harrison and wife, Deborah to Ephrain Harrison Vol R p 450 twp 8 Range 5 district of Stuebenville. These are just notes I jotted down while looking for land records for my Harrisons. My Terzah had a sister, Mahala, who married Abner Gray and a brother, Reuben, who married Cassandra Davis. If you know of any connection, I'd love to hear from you. Good luck, Susan Runyan

Middleton died in 1853 and is buried in the Morristown, Ohio, cemetery. I hope my research can help someone. Susan in Phoenix La33ey@email.msn.com

    2. Becky Bonner
    3. Some sad news that I thought many of you would be interested in. Dr. Johnson was diagnosed with throat cancer and treated with radiation back in January. This often cures this condition ... but not the case for dear Dr. Johnson. He is seriously ill now in a hospice program. Dr. Johnson has been researching the HARRISONs particularly of Buncombe County for decades. Being blind for the past couple of years did not stop him from pursuing genealogy research. We are indebted to his life-long effort and willingness to share and help others. We have many of his Notes online at our website http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~harrisonrep/Johnson/index.htm and are continuing to transcribe these for you. I had hoped to complete this task while he was still alive so that he would know they were available to anyone that was interested. At my current rate of progress, I will not succeed in meeting this deadline. I would love some volunteers to help transcribe them ... if any of you could help with transcription skills (to MSWord or WordPerfect), postage, and copy fees ... I would be very grateful. My finances are quite limited at the moment because we are painting the outside of our house this summer, but I am willing to work all hours of the night and wee hours in the morning to complete this project. Dr. Johnson writes: >As far as my records, my plan is to turn them all over to my son. >He is also a professor and extremely busy lately and usuallly and so no >genealogy from him lately, but he is very good and got many, including >me into ggenealogy. He may be retiriing in a few years and resume my >work. His children too are interested. One problem is the number of >filing cabinents I have, and where to keep them. My Harrison records are >perhaps thee mosst extensive, but with my Harrison Notes as condensed >from my other material, they are pretty complete as is. An old fashioned get well card would be nice for those so inclined: Charles W. 3. Posted on: Harrison Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Harrison?read=636 Surname: HARRISON, GREER, HOWARD, LYTLE ------------------------- James, I am a Harrison by marriage, but I am very interested in sorting these folks out. The earliest Harrison I can find is William. Wm married Rebecca Greer in Nelson County, KY in 1804. Rebecca's parents are Samuel and Rebecca Howard Greer. Rebecca Howard is descended from the Howard & Lytle families of Pennsylvania. Two of Rebecca's sisters married Harrison men! William & Rebecca moved to Shelby County, KY where my husbands gggrandfather, John, was born in 1809. They later moved to Jefferson County, KY, where they lived out their lives...in the southern part of the county, near the Bullitt County line! I have heard of Grove Harrison and feel there must be some connection between all these families. Do you know where in VA your Harrisons came from?
