Hi Kathy, I am extremely happy to hear from you gal!!!! LOL Your Jeremiah HARRISON, b. 9-11-1876, d. 5-28-1959 is MY Jeremiah "Jerry" HARRISON!! I knew he died in the late 50's, I attended his funeral, but I was just a kid at the time and couldn't remember just when it was. I have just started on this line this past weekend, after receiving a copy from SSDI of Willie Hugh HARRISON's original application, which listed where he was born, and listed his parents names. It would appear that James Henderson HARRISON moved his family from Grundy County to Franklin Co sometime after 1876, because I found that Jeremiah was born 1876 in Parmley Hollow, Grundy Co. TN. Jeremiah's children I think were all born in Franklin Co, but I can only be sure that 4 of them were born in Cowan, Franklin Co. Jeremiah married Annie Rebeca Parmley (the Rebeca spelling is taken from the SSDI copy), she was born 1-5-1880, Parmley Hollow, Grundy Co.TN. Annie died 1956/57, Miami, FL Their children were: And I am not sure of the order here 1. Earnest, b. 1903 TN, d. 12-1971 Miami, FL 2. Snowy, (dau) no info 3. Geraldine, no info 4. Paul C. b. 1912 Cowan, Franklin Co, TN, d. 12-1983 Umatilla,FL 5. Willie Hugh, b. 7-14-1913 Cowan, Franklin CO,TN d. 4-14-1980 Miami, FL (twin) m/ Christine T. Crabb (my stepfather & mother) 6. Sally Sue (Suzanne) (twin), b. 7-14-1913 Cowan, Franklin Co,TN 7. Dixie (son), b. 1916 Cowan,Franklin CO, TN, d. 1987 Wintersprings, FL. 8. ?? There were 8 children in all and I can't account for one, perhaps died. Apparently they moved to Miami, FL. while some of the kids at least were still living at home, because Willie Hugh went to the same High School that I did. Annie Rebeca Parmley was the dau of Henson Greenland Parmley, b. 7-12-1838 TN, d. 1-21-1911 Grundy Co.TN and Margaret J. Cowan, b. 6-1847 Marion Co,TN, d. 8-6-1919, Tracy City, Grundy Co,TN. That is everything that I have at this point. And you just know I would LOVE to have what you have. LOL. Regards, Judy Roberts << Finally!! I have long been searching for any HARRISONS from Franklin Co., Tn. I think we may connect. This is some of what I have. My ancestor, James Henderson HARRISON b 1845 in Franklin/Grundy?? co., Tn. He died in 1896. He married Sally Ann GIBSON in 1867. I have 11 children listed for James & Sally..one of them being my grandfather, Harvey Lee HARRISON, the youngest child b 1896.... I believe, in Sewanee, Franklin Co., Tn. I have their fifth child listed as Jeremiah HARRISON b 11 Sep 1876 - 28 May 1959. I also have a Jeremiah HARRISON b ca 1824 in the Grundy Co. census and married to Betty Ann HILL.....who we have THOUGHT could be the parents of our James Henderson HARRISON. I have rec'd this info from another family member...and have not checked it out for myself...although I know the info on my grandfather, Harvey, and Harvey's father to be true. Hoping this may help you some...and desperately hoping that you can help me!!! Regards, Kathy/MI harris@livingonline.com When this you see, remember me

http://www.wdbj.net/~tnknox/cemeteries/ A note about the Confederate Cemetery, located at 1919 Bethel Avenue, Knoxville: One official source states: "The Confederate Cemetery is rarely opened to the public. It is owned and administered by the Mabry-Hazen Foundation, and inquiries should be addressed to the Mabry-Hazen House, (865) 522-8661. Most of the 1,600 Confederates and 50-60 Union prisoners of war buried here were lost to disease, which periodically swept the camps during the War. As far as is known, none of those lost at Fort Sanders are interred here." However, historian William Rule wrote in 1900: "The Confederate or Bethel Cemetery is located about one mile east of Gay street on the Rutledge pike, and includes four acres of land, two acres of which was purchased in 1862 of Knox county, and two acres of Joseph Mabry. Ever since it was established it has been in charge of the Ladies' Memorial Association. More than 1,600 Confederate dead lie buried in this cemetery, and according to the present secton, W.D. Winstead, an old Confederate soldier, there were buried here in the southeast corner, three hundred bodies of soldiers killed in the charge on Fort Sanders, immediately after the battle, which, if correct, when added to the ninety-two buried in neat pine boxes under the direction of S.T. Atkins, would make three hundred and ninety-two killed in that disastrous attack. The monunent on the Confederate dead in Bethel Cemetery was erected through the efforts of the Ladies' Memorial Association, and was unveiled May 19, 1892, that being the day usually observed for the purpose of decorating Confederate soldiers' graves." The cemetery is managed through the office of the Chattanooga National Cemetery (phone 423-855-6590). This office can look up burials for telephone inquirers. There is no on-site staff in Knoxville. A small building on the site houses notebooks with the names and interment details of each person buried here. Historian William Rule wrote in 1900: "The National Cemetery at Knoxville is situated on a slight eminence in the northwestern portion of the city, the principal entrance being on Jacksboro street [now North Broadway], which passes along the western side of the cemetery. There are also entrances on the eastern side, one for carriages and one for people on foots. This cemetery was established in 1865, and laid out according to places furnished from Washington. ... The number of graves in this cemetery at the present time is 3,238, and contains the bodies of 2,191 soldiers who names are known and 1,047 whose names are unknown. Among the known are thirteen bodies of soldiers that died in camp in Knoxville during the year 1898." Robert McGinnis transcribed about 300,000 Knox County burials in the late 1970's and early 1980's. He's continued to update and add to the listing. Many of you may be familiar with the card file >at the McClung Historical Collection in Knoxville, which contains the bulk of Robert's work. >> >> Well....strap yourself in so you won't jump out of your chair <g>. >> >> With the kind assistance of Mr. Jerry Dill, system administrator of the server where the Knox County TNGenWeb site is housed, we are now able to begin making an index to the transcriptions available on-line. >> >> Yep, you read that right: ON-LINE. Hi all, On July 28th it will be the first year anniversary of my Lost & Found Old Photographs site. The main aim of the site is to reunite descendants with their ancestors photos which I am glad to say we have several times now. I am proud to say we have had over 10,000 visitors on it now. The site is at: http://home.att.net/~fan4dolls/lost.html There are many old photos on there, 29 pages of them with a 30th page as an index. Well, I thought it would be a fun idea to have people vote on their favorite photos on the site, I want to place the two favorties on the front page by the 28th to celebrate the 1 year anniversary! So please if you want to take a look at the site and send me your two favorite choices. I am looking forward to seeing which photos you like the best! Thank you, Beth suntanr2@worldnet.att.net
