My great grandmother was Mary Fair Howell who married Jasper Miller in 1878. They lived in Charlotte/Mecklenburg, NC. Her family was from Essex County, NJ. Am trying to locate the Miller side. The Howells were my father's maternal grandparents. The Harrison side is on my father's side, paternal great-great grandparents: Mary Elizabeth Harrison married Rev. Thomas Marion Farrow (from Charlotte). Their daughter was the second wife of Josiah Asbury of Charlotte, her name was Molly (Mary Estel) Farrow Asbury. My paternal grandparents grew up in Charlotte in the early 1900's. I have brick walls w/ Jasper Miller and Rev. Thomas Marion Farrow. The Howells were related to the Wades and the Drakes of New England. Any help is appreciated. Maybe this may help you as well. Sincerely, Barbara Fowler

    1. [HARRISON] Ancestry of James Mason HARRISON , b. 1742 in Calvert Co., MD
    2. Don Reader
    3. Posted on: Harrison Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Harrison/837 Surname: HARRISON, READER, MASON ------------------------- Looking for information on the Ancestors of James Mason Harrison, a Revolutionary War soldier. There is excellent info on his descendants in the Harrison Repository, however, the only known reference to his ancestry is from his pension application in Overton Co., TN where he said that he came to VA with his parents from Calvert Co., Maryland. If you have information on any colonial Harrisons from Calvert Co., Maryland, or nearby, who might be related, please let me know, either by reply here or by e-mail. Some JMH descendants believe his parents were John Harrison and Sarah Daniel of Halifax, VA, but the documented info on their son James does not match the info about JMH. According to his pension application, by the age given, he was born about 1742. His given name, James Mason, might be another clue to his ancestry, i.e. perhaps his mother was a MASON, or better yet, his maternal grandfather, or an uncle, might have been a James MASON. There is a tax roll for Calvert Co. which lists several HARRISONs in Calvert Co., including some Williams and Henrys (JMH named a son William Henry, perhaps after a father, grandfather, or uncle). But that is all I have found so far. Thanks for any help! Don READER St. Louis, MO

    1. [HARRISON] Susannah Harrison, TN, 1841
    2. Charles R. Spotts
    3. I've noticed several TN inquiries on the list lately, so I'll try this one again. I'm looking for any information about Susannah Harrison who married Josiah Marshall in 1858. The 1870 census shows her at age 29 with her husband Josiah and four children living in Obion Co., TN. Josiah's family had previously lived in Smith Co.,TN, but he was orphaned and taken in by his married sister in Obion Co. about 1848. In 1880 Susanna is still with Josiah Marshall in Obion Co., but in 1900 Josiah was single and living in Mississippi Co., MO. Various records refer to her as Susan A., Susanna, and Susannah J. Harrison. She died about 1894, presumably in Obion Co., TN, because her husband was still there at that time; he moved within a year or two to Missouri where he married again. Family records indicate that Josiah and Susannah were married in New Madrid, MO, accross the river from Obion Co., although we cannot find a record of the marriage there. Nor can we find a marriage record in Mississippi Co.,MO, or Obion Co., TN. Historians in those places tell me it was very common to cross the river to be married in those days. I would be grateful for any clue to this Harrison family. Charles crspotts@tcsn.net
