I haven't posted my Harrison "brick wall" in a while. Maybe someone can help me make a connection. Between the Census and information I got from an elderly Great Aunt (via her grandfather's family bible), I have identified my GG Grandparents as John H. Atkinson and Susan C. Harrison. John H. Atkinson was born 1/10/1854 in GA (probably in Greene County), died March 26, 1928 in Alabama. Susan C. Harrison was born 4/25/1855 in GA, died September 30, 1882 in Georgia, probably in Henry County. In the 1880 Census of Henry County, GA, I find: 140 140 Robert Harrison M 26 GA SC GA L(?) " F 26 GA GA GA Ophalia " F 6 GA GA GA Mary J. " F 2 GA GA GA Sarah " F 1 GA GA GA 141 141 Nancy Harrison F 47 GA GA GA Joshua " M 12 GA GA GA 142 142 Andrew Walker M 75 SC SC SC Mary " F 70 SC SC SC John Harrison M 20 GA GA GA Masonsa(?) Hi, listers. This is my Harrison brick wall. John Harrison born c. 1830 married Elizabeth ? born c. 1829. Both born in England. In 1860, John & Elizabeth were living in Wheeling, Ohio Co., WV. At that time, they had 4 children: William, aged 10, born in WV; Mary, aged 6, born in WV; John, aged 3, born in WV and Susan, aged 1, also born in WV. William ended up in Mo. I haven't been able to find any other information on Mary, John or Susan. I have also failed to discover John & Elizabeth anywhere else - WV or Mo. If anyone else out there is researching any of these siblings or might have any information on John & Elizabeth, it would be incredibly welcome. Thanks Erin/Ca __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail - Free email you can access from anywhere! http://mail.yahoo.com/
The recent postings about Harrisons in Ohio and presidential Harrison relatives prompt me to try again with my Harrison brick wall. SUSANNA HARRISON was born 7-10-1810, place unknown. She married Elisha Kirk on 5-20- 1830 in Columbiana County, OH, and died 8-17-1853 in Williams County, OH. One old family letter says that her father's name was Zacharia, but I have no other proof of this. As with many others, the family story has always been that she was a cousin (second cousin, I suspect) of President William Henry Harrison. Obviously, she was considerably younger than him. A story told by her granddaughter was that when William Henry was inaugurated, she sent him a letter of congratualation and received from him the silver buckles he had worn when he was a general, and that these had been passed on to her son Harrison Sidwell Kirk. Alas, I don't know what happened to the buckles or to Harrison. There is enough detail to the story to make me believe it, but I have never been able to find any connection in any of the Harrison genealogies I have seen, or to find any other family that seemed to be connected in Columbiana County. I would be extremely grateful for any information any one has to point me in the right direction -- even if it is not to the presidential line. Pat Kelly

HARRISON; Kings Co., NY,USA ; 1865- I am seeking a bride with the maiden name of Mary Teresa Harrison, born ca. 1865 in Kings Co. (Brooklyn) NY or any Mary Harrison, born ca. 1865 in NYS. Her parents were Edward Harrison born in Wales died May 21, 1885 in Brooklyn. Civil War Veteran. Neither wife nor children buried with him. Also possible marriage of her mother, the widow, Teresa Catherine Harrison nee McCormick after 1886. Mother was Teresa Catherine McCormick, born ca. 1844 in Manhattan, NY. Last mention of widow and daughter Mary was in 1886, when Teresa Catherine was a god-mother for a child of her brother, William McCormick's son. Also in Brooklyn. Was too old for 1880 Soundex and family was not found by line check. Possibility and probability that either or both Widow and daughter Mary Harrison married between 1886 and 1900, so as to not appear in 1900 census soundex. Thanks in advance. Mike Mc

Can anyone tell me who this Elizabeth Harrison was? The Blunt family had ties to my Harrison lines but I do not know how this Harrison woman fits in to the rest of mine. Anyone who has these folks in their family tree and can help me solve this mystery, I would appreciate hearing from you. I believe this family were in Grant Co.,WI where Matilda C Harrison & Christopher Pitzer lived & died. Matilda's sister Elizabeth would have been too young to be this one. Matilda's 2 daughters married Blunt brothers. They had 5 children. Matilda remarried in the late 1890s to John Henry SHOKES of Charleston. John Henry SHOKES was 1st married to Josephine JOHNSTON. Matilda was of Native American blood. Have you been to this Web site?
Thanks! There is a LDS family history center near me. I will go there again. The first time there I was thoroughly confused and did not get anything out of the visit. They do have microfilm there. I have checked their internet site, but most things I find are for 1700 and earlier. I am still in the era of 1850 - 1930; working my way backwards. The people I am looking for would be married and having their children around 1890 - 1923. They are as follows: I am looking for John Wesley (Westly) Washington who married Avery Porter. Their children were Jewel, Rosie, Roger, Booker T., Louise, Charles and David. John Wesly Washington was born in Pensacola, Florida; his parents were Annie Davis and George Washington; his siblings were Iziah, Mary, and Henry. Annie Davis remarried later and married Walter Harrison. The children from this marriage were Charity, Arthur, Pearl, and Lillie. Avery Porter was from St. Tammany Parish, specifically Slidell, Louisiana. All of hers and John's children were born in Slidell. Avery's parents were Roger Friday Napoleon Porter and Matilda Rates. Her siblings were Alexander, Octavia, James A., Nathaniel, Mable, and Ruth. All of these families, except Annie Davis and George Washington, began in Slidell, LA. By 1920, they had moved to Watts, Los Angeles County, California. Annie Davis and George Washington originated in Pensacola, FL. This is an African-American Family with Mulatto ties and possibly Indian. If you can be of any help in locating family information in St. Tammany, I would appreciate it. Sincerely, Tracy Matilda remarried later and married Felix Adams. They had two children, Odessa and Ted.
