============================================================ 300TH ANNIVERSARY OF HUGUENOT COLONY AT MANAKIN, VA ============================================================ This year marks the 300th Anniversary of the founding of the Huguenot Colony at Manakin, Virginia. Intended to be a French-only town, the original colony was a haven for French Protestants who had fled religious persecution. The Manakin Huguenot Society is having an Open House at the Society's headquarters from 2 to 5 p.m. on October 21; it is open to the public. Celebrants can use the research library, talk to Living History interpreters, and tour the 1895 church, which still contains elements of the very first church. At 7 p.m., the 300th Anniversary Banquet will take place at the Virginia Historical Society in Richmond. The entire building and its exhibits will be open. Reservations are necessary for this event. Invitations can be requested by sending an e-mail to mailto:carolc11@aol.com. A history of the colony and a list of founders are on the society's Web site at http://www.huguenot-manakin.org/. There are also links to many sources that can assist with research on Manakin families. ___________________________________________________________________ josiebass@zxmail.com 216 Beach Park Lane Cape Canaveral, FL 32920-5003 Home of the *HARRISON* Repository http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~harrisonrep/ My Southern Family WWW: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mysouthernfamily/ LINDSAY & HARRISON Surnames & CSA-HISTORY Roots Mail List GENCONNECT: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/indx/FamAssoc.html Data Managed by beautiful daughter Becky Bass Bonner and me, Josephine Lindsay Bass

Posted on: Harrison Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Harrison/969 Surname: Harrison, Parker, Gerard ------------------------- I am looking for any information about William Pope Harrison b.1830 in Savannah, GA. died 1895 in Columbus, Georgia. He was a Methodist/Episcopal minister in Georgia from the 1850's through the 1890's. I have not been able to confirm the names of his wife/wives and children. His son, my husband's g-grandfather, disappeared after abandoning his 11 children in Texas in the early 1900's. I have been unable to establish a firm link to W. P. Harrison because of his son's disappearance though the grandchildren remembered their grandfather William Pope Harrison. It is recorded in the 1870 census that he was married to Elizabeth J. Parker but other records say he was married to Mary Hodges. Both from Georgia. Please help! Link: William Pope Harrison URL: <http://>

Her husband is kin to Sophia Dunn Harrison & James Dunn, the husband of Keziah Harrison. 1 Eliza Lyons .. +Allenson M Dunn b: September 28, 1854 in Indiana The Pitzer family is related both through the marriage of Matilda C Harrison to Christopher Pitzer ( she another daughter of James Harrison & Mary Brice) and the Osborne/Osborn families which my GGG-grandfather William Brice Harrison married Emma Jane Osborn, who is related to the Boone family. Her mother-in-law Mary Brice Harrison's mother was Rachel Boone. The Osborn lines are also kin to Hannah Boone Stewart -Pennington, Hannah being the sister of the famous Daniel Boone. Most likely Emma was a distant cousin of William Brice Harrison, her husband. I sure would like to sort all these people out and find parents names for the Osborn & Boone women.
