Surnames: Harrison Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/jhh.2ACIB/4750 Message Board Post: I am searching for a family contact, or others with information, concerning Judge Greenville Harrison, he lived in Clarksburg, Harrison County in Jul of 1880. Greenville Harrison was the 2nd cousin of my 3rd G-Grandfather, William Henry Harrison. My William Henry Harrison was born in abt Sep 1804 in Franklin Co, VA, he died on 4 May 1881 in Cabell Co, WV. William was married on 23 Oct 1826, Franklin Co, VA to Sinah Morgan Dillon, she was also born in Franklin Co, VA. They moved to WV abt 1835. Greenville Harrison was interviewed in 1880 by Rev. Lucien Harrison (grandson of my William H Harrison) and he, Greenville, confirmed the relationship of himself and my William Harrison. As I am having great difficulty tracing the parents of my William, I would like to find out more about the lineage of Greenville Harrison. Both, Greenville and my William Harrison would have shared the same Great Grandparents. With that information I may be able to follow the line down through the male children and locate the grandfather and father of my William. Thanks for any interest and assistance. I am happy to share other information I have from the interview of Greenville Harrison with his descendents.

The timing is right, as are the names. There is an early list of businesses in Belfast that list several John and Joseph Harrisons, The list includes professions as tool maker, toy maker & Clock makers. If you can tie any of this down or develop a link between these ancestors, Please let me know and I will do likewise. By the way, I was born in Montana, but my family came via Aspodel, Canada to Clare Co., Michigan to Montana and I have no record of anybody from Anaconda

    2. Richard, et al Well - I can answer for the Adams. Yes. However, there is an actual connection in my tree. However, my Harrison clan never said they were related to W H Harrison - but I am humored by the amount of people who claim this. He was one busy man! I have written Dr. Johnson's son to ask if Dr. J had a copy of the letter - or made notes of actually seeing it. He does refer to it - but knowing Dr. J's humor, I don't know if he was being dry-witted. I don't think such a letter exists--either from the campaign of William Henry or the campaign of Benjamin. I think this rumor started of as a joke to explain why so many Harrisons have been told by their parents and grand-parents that they are related to the Presidents Harrison. I was told by my father that we were related to Benjamin, but not to William Henry. so much for his knowledge of history! Do these kind of stories exist in other families with Presidential surnames? Or in families with other notable surnames? It seems that a great number of Harrisons are told they are related to the Presidents. Is the same true of the Adamses? Is te same true of the Boones? -Richard
