    1. [HARRISON] Thomas and Richard Harrison
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/jhh.2ACIB/4820 Message Board Post: I am researching Thomas and Richard Harrison who are brothers. It is unknown at this time who their parents are. They were both born in Maryland Thomas in 1760 and Richard in 1764. I am searching for clues as to who their parents might be. Richard stated in his Revolutionary war pension application that they were orphaned and brought to North Carolina by Isaac Robertson. Nothing about their parents has been uncovered. That is all I have to go on. I am just hoping that someone out there just might have something that could point me in the right direction.

    1. [HARRISON] MARION HARRISON d. December 17, 1880 Benton Co., IA
    2. MARION HARRISON DIED WHILE COMING TO TOWN Marion Harrison died suddenly last Saturday while on his way to Vinton in company with his wife and Mrs. Chas. Floyd, from his home northeast of the city. He was driving a team of colts hitched to a wagon and when they were near the slaughter house on the grade road the team started to run and he had some difficulty in stopping them but with the aid of Mrs. Harrison pulling on the lines he finally got them stopped. The doubletree had become loosened from the tongue and Mr. Harrison asked his wife to hold the colts by their bits while he fixed it. She had just reached their heads when she noticed him falling back on the seat of the wagon with his mouth open. With the aid of Mrs. Floyd she got him out of the vehicle, but he breathed only a few times after that, and died. Dr. Luckey, returning from the home of Charles Floyd, who is sick with pneumonia, came by about that time, but it was too late for medical aid. The body was brought to Vinton in the Fry auto truck and taken to their undertaking parlors. Mr. Harrison had been troubled all winter with a bad cold and complained of his lungs and heart bothering him, but his condition was not considered serious. The immediate cause of his death was heart failure, no doubt due to the excitement of the team running away and the exertion in stopping the horses. Marion Harrison was born in Benton County, on the Harrison farm six miles northeast of Vinton, December 17, 1880, and was 36 years, 4 months and 27 days old at the time of his death, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. (John) Wesley Harrison, who were pioneer residents of Benton County. Mr. Harrison was a prominent man in the community in which he lived and was well and favorably known by many all over the county. At the time of his death he held the position of Sunday school superintendent of the Primmer church, of which he had long been a member. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife and four children, Delbert, Ray, Lucile and Mildred; his mother, Mrs. Wesley Harrison, and four sisters and two brothers. The sisters are Mrs. Frank Washburn, Waterloo; Mrs. Will Collicott, Sioux City; Mrs. Sarah Haymaker, Vinton; Mrs. Hugh Caldwell, Vinton. The two brothers of Mr. Harrison are James and Will Harrison, both of whom are residents of Benton County. The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Primmer church at 2:00, conducted by Rev. Norton, of Urbana, and assisted by Rev. McDonald, of Walker. Burial was made in the Cox cemetery in Polk township. Thank you, Kathie Harrison NEGenWeb Project - Ancestor's Sharing Center http://www.rootsweb.com/~neasc/index.htm Lancaster Co. Surnames: BOONE, HARRISON, BRODY, STOOKEY, MAXWELL Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/jhh.2ACIB/4819 Message Board Post: FORMER VINTON WOMAN DEAD AT INDEPENDENCE Independence, May 14 -- The many friends of Mrs. Benjamin Boone, of this city, were shocked on Sunday afternoon to hear of her death at the People's hospital in this city at 2:45 o'clock. Mrs. Boone had been ailing for several years, but she has been about until Monday afternoon, May 5, when she went to the People's hospital for a minor operation. The operation was performed Tuesday forenoon and for a while she seemed to rally, but later peritonitis set in and was the cause of her demise. Mrs. Boone was born in Vinton, April 5, 1863, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Harrison. She resided in her home vicinity until her marriage to Mr. Boone on July 3, 1880. They immediately came to this county to to reside upon the old home farm, two and one-half miles east of this city, where they continued to reside until about 13 years ago, when they removed to this city, and have since made their home here. Four children were born to them, two sons have preceded the mother and wife in death many years ago. She is survived by her husband, one son, George, who resides on the home farm east of this city, and Mrs. Blanche Maxwell, residing south of this city. Two sisters, Mrs. Maude (Mahala) Brody of Vinton, and Mrs. Carrie Stookey, of Des Moines; three brothers, Thomas, William, and Frank Harrison, all of Humboldt, Calif.; and Rye Harrison of Vinton, also survive her, as does her only child Lloyd Randall of this city. Surnames: COLLICOTT, HARRISON, WASHBURN, HAYMAKER, CALDWELL Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/jhh.2ACIB/4818 Message Board Post: AGED WOMAN DIES AT HOME OF DAUGHTER Mrs. Lucinda (Collicott) Harrison, widow of J. W. Harrison was born in Humbolt County, Indiana, December 13, 1842. Died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sadie Haymaker, Vinton, Iowa, June 13, 1924. Aged 81 years, 6 months and 28 days. January 1, 1862, she was married to J. W. Harrison to whom were born five sons and five daughters. In early girlhood she came to Iowa with her parents. Immediately following her marriage, she with her husband located on a farm in Taylor township, Benton County, Iowa, where she reared her family and lived until about six years ago. She underwent the hardships and experiences of the early settlers but all the time made her life tell favorably as one of the early pioneers. In early womanhood, she professed faith in Jesus Christ and united with the Methodist church, retaining her loyalty to Christ, and the church until the day of her passing. Those who knew her best will remember her activity in church work. She was ready and anxious to depart and be with the loved ones once gone before. As a wife, mother, neighbor, and Christian she had but few her equal. Four children preceded the mother in death. She is survived by six children as follows: Mrs. Lizzie Washburn of Waterloo; Mrs. Sarah Haymaker of Vinton; Mrs. Gladys Collicott of Chicago; James and William Harrison, farmers near Vinton, and Mrs. Hugh Caldwell, Vinton. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. F. Cronk at the Primmer church northeast of Vinton, some seven miles, Thursday afternoon, and laid to rest in the Cox cemetery along side of other members of the family awaiting the final resurrection.

A niece of your grandfather lives near Seattle and could really tell you tons of stories. She comes from the first family. Interested in pieces of history you have and glad to share the information we have. J.L.

I have a huge binder with about 300 loose leaf pages of our family tree names that I aquired from my father when he had his last stroke and was put in a retirement home. I am not sure exactly what to do with it, or even how to read it. It appears to be originated by the Franklin Family. ( Jean Franklin ). A lot of the information seems to center around ! 2. Does anyone know who the parents of Kinsey Harrison were? His son Nimrod Harrison married Rachel Harrison, a sister of my GGG-grandfather William Brice Harrison. I believe that Kinsey may have been a cousin of Rachel Harrison's father James Harrison (husband of Mary Brice). Can anyone add comment or notes pointing to this possibility? It is known that James Harrison, father of Rachel also lived in Frederick Co., MD in the same time frame as Kinsey and was only 8 years older than Kinsey. I have a William H Harrison born about 1839GA; son of Jeremiah M Harrison & Lucinda "Caroline" Lee. The only big discrepancy I see (so far) is Jeremiah was born in NC and Lucinda either in SC or NC; however, experience tells me the 1880 Census often lists parents' birth places incorrectly! William H Harrison was living with Jeremiah & Lucinda for the 1860 Union County, GA Federal Census - age 20. That presents a problem since his son J. F. was born (according to the 1880 census) 1859 in TX. Again, I take ages on the census to be less than reliable! At least one of Jeremiah & Lucinda's children (Mitchell Alexander Harrison) ended up in TX. Your William H Harrison's wife on the 1880 Census is listed as Emily - his 2nd wife? She would have been 10 at J. F.'s birth - a bit young, even for the Harrison clan! Precinct 1, Rains County, Texas - Page 125C Wm H. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/jhh.2ACIB/2605.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi, Glad to hear from you. I guess we are 2nd half cousins twice removed or something like that. I know that Andrew Ponzar (father of Frank) was the son of Wenzel Ponzar and Katherine Unk., born in Austria in 1854. Andrew's mother died and Wenzel married Mary Ellen Gremllin. They had a son John in 1870. Wenzel emmigrated to Iron Mountain Missouri in 1870 followed by Mary Ellen and the two sons in 1872. They had seven more children, one of which was my granmother, Lena Ponzar. I have most of the particulars on their children (missing a few marriage dates and maiden names). What I am really having difficulty with is finding where in Austria (or wherever) Wenzel and Mary Ellen were born and married and where Andrew and John were born. Also any other information on Andrew's mother (maiden name, date of birth and death etc). My grandmother said that her parents never talked much about Germany, but thought that her father was an orphan who was raised with a sister by some aunt's. Mary Ellen was apparently a house-keeper / nurse for Andrew before she and Wenzel married. I think I found the ship that Mary Ellen and the boy's came over in, but nothing on Wenzel. So, if you have any information on the Ponzar's in Germany (or Austria or Bohemia or wherever), I would be most appreciative. I'd certainly be willing to share any information that I have if you are interested. You can email me directly if you like. By the way, there was a 100th birthday party for my grandmother in De Soto in 1979 which was attended by a lot of family members. I wonder if maybe I met your parents or grandparents at that time. Thanks for your reply and hope to hear from you soon. Henry
