Guess we are cousins-in-law, but perhaps actually blood kin if your Harrisons & ours connect ! My Grandmother was Lonie Knighton & your husband's ancestor was a Knighton before marrying the VanWonderham. Their father was William PINKNEY Knighton & their grandmother was Mary A. "Polly" HARRISON before marrying Green L. Knighton ! It's quite possible all the Harrisons that lived in Calhoun Co, Alabama were related to our GGGrandmother Mary A. HARRISON Knighton ! Our Harrisons came from Spartanburg Co, SC originally and I know some of GGGrandmother Mary Harrison Knighton's Harrison family moved down to Calhoun Co, Alabama before Mary & Green Knighton did. They moved down in the early 1850's. Would like to know more about your Harrisons, Shirley. We know that GGGrandmother Mary Harrison Knighton had many Aunts & Uncles we have yet to find. You can e-mail me at: [email protected] Hope to hear from you !

The first McNair I have recorded in North Carolina is John McNair, born in Scotland in 1735 and died in Richmond Co., NC 6-30-1819. The only recorded children I have for him and his wife Catherine Buie are:Sarah Ann McNair and Malcolm P. McNair. My line comes from Malcolm and his wife Jennett Little McNair. I cannot find your person in my data base, but that does not mean that he could not have come from the same line. Keep in touch and if I run across anything on your person, I will contact you. Can anyone identify the following individual? Is she the unknown HARRISON who married Neil LITTLE in Petersburg, VA then moved to Cowper Hill, Robeson Co, NC to live with her daughter Jennet and son-in-law Rev. Malcom McNAIR? February 8, 1826 Issue, Fayetteville Observer: Died at Cowper Hill, Robeson County on the evening of the 1st, Mrs. Jane LITTLE, formerly of Petersburg, VA. Source: M&D Notices 1816 - 1840 Carol Shrader Virginia Beach, VA http://www.carolshouse.com
I am searching for information on a Harrison woman from Petersburg, VA who married Neil Little, probably in the vicinity of 1790. He was a widower with two children who may not have been from Petersburg prior to this marriage. Ms. Harrison and Neil Little had two children: Jennet & Margaret before he died (in Petersburg). Jennet left Petersburg at age 12. She was raised by a wealthy Harrison uncle, who had a large family and was an Episcopalian. I don't know his name or where he lived. Jennet eventually married North Carolina Presbyterian minister Malcom McNair. Rev. McNair sent to Petersburg for his mother-in-law (Mrs. Unknown Harrison Little) after his marriage. She died in NC about 1823-1824. Jennet's sister Margaret married a Surles. Does anyone recognize this family? Can anyone help by filling in any of the missing information? Woodruff, Huddleson and Hubbard might be good search words. You will find Woodruff surname in South Carolina, you might want to search there. Also go to the Harrison Family Geneaology Forum and do a similar search. Some of the migration pattern are Va, to S.C. To Georgia, Alabama then to Missouri, Arkansas, Texas. Some parents with some of the siblings split off and went to different States. You would be astounded at the distance covered. It is also very helpful to list all birthdates of known siblings and parents if possible, where they were married, if known. Good Luck, Teresa P. S. From the Harrison Family Genealogy Forum, you can also go to the top upper right hand corner and type in Hubbard, Woodruff, etc, then do a search or Harrison or a state.
