She is 5 yrs old in the 1930 census living with her parents Lottie Bowers and George Harrison in Sioux City, Woodbury, Iowa. It states she was br. in Iowa and she would be born in 1925. The bio of her step-father, Fred Holeman, mentions that Lottie had one daughter, Betty Jane (Mrs. Robert Logan) then living in Harrisburg, PA. That is all I know about her. Who was your cousin married to? This would be an immediate identification. Sorry, but I know absolutely nothing about anyone else. Please let me know if there is any connection. Cousin, Norma

Harrison's second wife, Louisa Burwell. From the 1850 census I gather she was born around 1789 or 1790. The book, "Civil War Soldiers of Brunswick, Co., VA" states she was "Louisa Burwell of Petersburg." This would suggest that she was the daughter of John Burwell and Anne Powell, but I can find no evidence of her birth or parentage at all. John B. Harrison was descended from a Daniel Harrison of Surry Co., VA. Here's his line: Daniel Harrison Born 1658 in Surry Co., VA (I do not know who his parents were) | Solomon Harrison Born 1690 in Surry Co., VA Mary ? | John Harrison Born: abt 1716 in Surry Co., VA Susannah Edmunds | William Harrison, Captain Born: 1 Aug 1747 in Sussex Co.,VA Mary Tatum Born: 17 Sept 1752 in Chesterfield Co., VA | John B. Harrison Born: 19 Jul 1780 in Sussex Co., VA m1: Mary Wilkins Cocke m2: Louisa Burwell of Petersburg | with wife 1: William Colin Harrison Born: 2 dec 1806 ? with wife 2: George Washington Harrison Born: 1829 at Weedlawn, Meherrin Parish, Brunswick Co., VA. I've been able to find out a lot about this branch of the Harrisons except for Daniel Harrison and Louisa Burwell. I have located Daniel Harrison on a Surry Co. tax list and on a quit rents list for Surry Co., but nothing that indicates who his parents may have been. As for Louisa Burwell. The Burwell family is very well-documented and I have found nothing. The only hints I have are the names of some of her great-grandchildren: there was a Louise Burwell Harrison who lived to age 6, and a George Burwell Harrison. Both were children of Henry Spooner Harrison, son of George Washington Harrison and Sarah Virginia Walton. George Washington Harrison attended William and Mary College, which I was told is a Burwell tradition. He was a Captain in the Virginia Guard. If anyone knows anything about this branch of Harrisons, please email me. Morag

M. Harrison, a Bryan County farmer residing east of Caddo and ten miles north of this city, may soon come into possession f more than $11,500,000. This vast wealth represents a fortune that the uncle acquired by prospecting in the Klondike. The old gentleman died March 10, leaving Mr. Harrison, so far as he knows, the only surviving heir. The news of Mr. Harrison’s impending good fortune came to him in a notice from Probate Judge Gordan of Seattle, Washington, advising him that his uncle Alexander McDonald of Fair Haven, Washington had died, and that as soon as an inventory could be made of his estate, some property including a very valuable hop farm near Seattle would be sold. Mr. Harrison owns an adjoining farm and, on leaving the West in 1892, he arranged with his uncle that in the event of the old gentleman’s death, he should be notified and given an opportunity to bid upon his uncle’s property ! when offered for sale… On the same mail came another letter from a friend of former years advising Mr. Harrison that since he left Washington I the early nineties, his uncle had prospered with great success in the Klondike when the gold fever reigned there in 1898… He was the only brother of Mr. Harrison’s mother, an native of Ireland, came to America I the early forties and was an old bachelor… McDonald was a civil engineer and in 1879, assisted in the surveying the route of the Great Northern Railroad from St. Paul, Minn., west to the Pacific coast. Harrison, who was then a young man, accompanied his uncle on this long survey, carrying the chain for the surveyors. After reaching Washington, both uncle and nephew decided to remain on the Pacific coast… After assisting in building one line (railroad) through the territories to Red River, Harrison sold his construction company and settled down to the more quiet pursuit of farming and st! ock raising… since that time he has made his home at Caddo where he now owns considerable land… worth more than $50,000… being 49 years old and has a family of five children… will remain an Oklahoma farmer, even after becoming a millionaire… a typical Irishman, but American born, being a native Virginian. He is well known in railroad construction circles.
