John H Harris, a son of William (Masterson) Harris line of Nelson County, Ky and Spencer County, Indiana, did migrate to Davis County, Iowa. This family and it's descendents belonged to the same church as Jacob and Eliza Jane (Slack) Harris. This line has all the best evidence to put Jacob as in the 1880 census, Jacob listed Ireland as father's birth place and Maryland as mother's birth place. With no documentation, I cannot place Jacob M Harris as the Harrises from the other two large clans, one from Madison County, Kentucky and one from the (Flippen) Harris line also have reasons to be possible family lines? Here is a good web site on D C Harris, a son of John Hunter Harris -- http://www.rootsweb.com/~iladams/pp1905/pp520.htm for those working on the Harrises from Hardin, Nelson, Madison Counties, Ky. also for a Jacob and William Harris connection, go to rootsweb boards for Virginia state and Culpeper County and search for William and Jacob Harris and Kannaday.
