HARRIS b. 14 Feb 1807 Madison Co., KY d. 29 Dec 1871 Contra Costa, CA and Mary (Polly) MIZE , b. 1811 KY, d. 29 Feb 1897 Napa, Napa, CA They mariied 24 May 1829 in Estill Co. KY. They moved to Scotland Co. MO @ 1831 and had 5 children who lived. Frances Elizabeth; William Cavanaugh; Mary E. Harris; Henry Harrison: and John B. HARRIS. In 1853 they led a wagon train to Sacramento, CA. Mary MIZE is the daughter of Joshua MIZE b. 1782, d. 14 Mar 1852 Estill, Co., KY and Elizabeth WITT b. 23 Nov 1783, d. 14 Jan 1852 in Estill Co., KY. Presley had three other siblings, as far as we know. Eliza Jane HARRIS b. 1815 Estill Co., KY d. 1881 Scotland Co., MO married #1 John Leander WITT (not White ,see last entry in first paragraph of the marriage list) 19 Oct 1829. He was b. in KY . She married #2 George Washington HOLEMAN in 1844 in Estill Co., KY son of William HOLEMAN and Ann WITT. They also moved to MO. Frances HARRIS b. 1801 in KY. She married #1 John HENDRICKS @ 1819 in KY, son of James HENDRICKS and Nancy Ann. She married #2 Alexander H. WALKER 07 June 1845 in Scotland Co., MO. Samuel F HARRIS b.June 1817 Madison Co. KY d. 25 July 1893, Scotland Co. MO. He married Mary E. MCPHERSON 16 Jan 1840 in Lewis Co. MO. Our only clue to the parentage of this family is in the marriage permissive note for Eliza Jane HARRIS when she married John LeanderWITT. The record shows; surety, John HARRIS. (published in Ed Puckett and Ellen Rogers' Marriage Permissive Notes book.) Researcher Joan Miller found in the 1830 census for Estill Co. reference to a John HARRIS. "John was living two houses from Nathan Witt, of the same WITT line as "Leander" WITT" Does anyone have any records about this HARRIS family?
