JORDAN HARRIS was born in Shelby County, March 28, 1853. His father,Jordan, Sr., also a native of Shelby County, was born in 1800, a son ofWilliam and Keziah (Sneed) Harris. William and Keziah were natives ofVirginia, came to Kentucky and settled in Louisville when there were buttwelve houses in the place, and experienced much trouble with the Indians.Jordan Harris, Sr., married Catherine Lusk, of Clark County, Ky., daughterof David and Matilda (Adams) Lusk. Nine children were born to this union,four living: Matilda L. Stone, William D. Harris, Sallie E. Courtney andJordan Harris. Our subject was reared in Shelby County and educated atthe common schools. He has always been engaged in farming and stockraising. He owns 100 acres of land. He is a very successful farmer andtrader. December 5, 1883, he married Miss Flora P. Harbison, of ShelbyCounty, daughter of G. W. and Emma (Miller) Harbison. Mr. Harris' mother,now in her seventy-fifth year, is living with him and is a member of theBaptist Church of which he is also a member.
