    3. Hi Ira, Thanks for the will. How do you know William and Judith's birth dates? Did Judith also have a will or did they just use his to take care of whatever estate was still there when she died? Does anyone know how Mecklenburg County Va and Granville Co. N. C. relate. Did part of Mecklenburg County become Granville? I have found some Claiborne Harrises in Granville Co. N. C. but don't know if they are mine or not. >From the census records I don't believe my Claiborne was born before 1760. I know that my Mumford Monroe Harris was born in 1786 or 87 (Family Bible) and he was probably their first or possibly 2nd child Judith would have been 45-48 when Claibourne was born. I think there were two or three children after him--if they are named in order in the will.which possibly would have had her bearing children into her 50's. The other record on William that someone sent had his birth date as 1704. It is interesting that I have that Mumford Monroe Harris in 3 generations and there was someone named Monroe mentioned in that will. Could this be a possible link? Does anyone have any solutions? Thanks. Sarah

    3. Harold Andrews asked: "Does anyone know how Mecklenburg County Va and Granville Co. N. C. relate. Did part of Mecklenburg County become Granville?" The answer is that these two counties share a common border - the NC/VA line. I am researching a Harris line in Granville Co NC and the same Harris line and a Perkins line in Mecklenburg and adjacent Halifax counties in VA. My research indicates that most families ignored the NC/VA state line when selecting a mate, when going to church, and probably most other things in their lives. I think this continues even today. Virgilina, VA (small town; VIRGInia - caroLINA) is in the SE corner of Halifax Co, VA and immediately adjacent to the NC border. Nelson, VA (community, post office) is in the SW corner of Mecklenburg Co, VA. This area can be located by searching for Virgilina, VA in most map software and online map sites. The NW corner of Granville County, NC has no "towns" but includes communities such as: Grassy Greek (Church), Amis Chapel (Church), Oak Hill, and Wilbourns. Hope this helps. Others may be able to contribute more. Ed
