    3. 1st CF Harris and his wife to D Bragg State of Texas, County of Freestone Know all men by these presents that we Chas F. Harris and LA Harris, wife of said Chas of the county and state aforesaid for and in consideration of two thousand dollars to us paid by Dunbar Bragg of said county and state; the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have this day granted bargained sold aliened and conveyed and by these presents do grant bargain sell and convey unto the said Bragg all that certain tract of land lying and being situated in the county of Freestone and State of Texas and more particularly described as follows to wit: Beginning at the north east corner of a survey made for Thomas Womack and on the east boundary line of DL Milican’s survey of two thirds of a league and labor a Post Oak 5 inches in diameter for a corner … To have and to hold unto the said D. Bragg his heirs administrators and assigns forever and we the said Chas F. Harris and LA Harris his wife do hereby bind ourselves our heirs administrators and assigns to warrant and forever defend the titles to the said described tract of land against the claim or claims of all persons whomsoever claiming the same or any part thereof together with all and singular the improvement thereon and thereto belonging in testimony where of we have here unto set our hand and scrolls for seals this 8th day of November AD 1862. CF Harris / LA Harris Personally appeared before me JC Yarbo chief justice for said Freestone County, Charles F. Harris to me well known who acknowledged that he signed sealed and delivered the above foregoing deed on the day it bears date for the purpose therein contained and expressed. Also Mrs. LA Harris, wife of the said Charles who after being examined separate and apart from her said husband acknowledged that she signed sealed and delivered the above foregoing deed of her own free will and accord for the purposes therein contained and expressed understanding its contents and that she wished not to retract the same. In testimony whereof I sign my official signature and affix the seal of my office on the 8th day of November AD 1862. JC Yarbo Chief Justice I certifiy that the foregoing deed of conveyance from CF Harris and LA Harris to D Bragg was filed in my office for record at 2 o’çlock pm on the 8th day of November AD 1862 And that the same with the proofs thereon is this day duly recorded. Given under my hand officially the 11th day of November AD 1862 2nd Inventory of property by Callie T Harris State of Texas County of Freestone The following is a correct Inventory of the estate and property both real and personal belonging separately and individually to me (Callie T. Harris) the wife of SW Harris which two named persons are at present and have ever been since marriage living together in a peaceably and friendly manner as husband and wife. This inventory being made and offered for probate and record as the law directed in order that the separate and individual estate and property of myself the said Callie T Harris may be and ever remain inviolate and not subject or liable to the contracts and liabilities of any kind whatever of my husband the said SW Harris contracted either before or since our marriage. This inventory being made and offered for record not at all for the purpose of fraud but since on account of the distressing fate of war myself and children have been disposed of our property and thereby impoverished and avail myself of the benefit of the law for the support of myself and the nurture and education of my children. Inventory: The tract of land upon which we now live containing three hundred and forth (340) acres more or less the same having been bought by me previous to my marriage and deed recorded in the town of Fairfield City, County of Freestone in Book H page 319 two bay mares, one three, the other eight years old the same having been swapped for with other property of mine the entire stock of cattle. Marked cross off the right ear branded ? the same having been bought with my separate money both before and since my marriage one yellow and white sided work ox (calico ball) a small lot of sheep given me by my relatives all the household and kitchen furniture except our bedstead all the farming utensils one old buggy and harness the one half of the present growing ? on the premises the other half being considered in law as belonging to my husband together with all and singular the property goods and chattels belonging on or appertaining to the premises the same having belonged to me previous and my marriage or having been given to me or bought or traded forwith my individual estate and money except the following which belongs exclusively to my said husband (towit) one trunk one bedstead one ox marked cross and underbit in the right two splits in the ? branding and one bay horse eight years old. Callie T Harris SW Harris husband of the said Callie T. Harris acknowledge to the correctness of the above and foregoing inventory and wish the same recorded as the law directs for the consideration therein set forth. SW Harris State of Texas County of Freestone. Before me personally appeared Mrs. Callie T. Harris whose name appears above to the attached Inventory and who was to me made known and in my presence signed the same under oath as a correct inventory of her separate property and estate and declared that she wised the same placed on record and at the same time the above named SW Harris husband of the said CT Harris signed the same and acknowledged to its correctness and said that he wished the same to be recorded as the law directs and that he wished to abide by the same in testimony where of witness my hand and the seal of the County Court of Freestone Co., on 21st day of September AD 1865. EA McCracken Chief Justice, Freestone County. I hereby certify that the above inventory was filed for record at 12 o’clock am Sept 21st and recorded at 4 o’çlock pm September 28th 1865. 3rd State of Texas, County of Freestone. CT Womack to CF Harris and SW Harris Know all men by these presents that I Caroline T. Womack of said county and state for and in consideration of a certain promissory note bearing date with this deed and due one day after date drawing ten percent interest from date for the sum of ten hundred and 38 & 60 / 00 dollars the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have this day bargained sold and conveyed and do by these presents to grant bargain sell release and convey unto Charles F. Harris and Simeon W. Harris of said County and State all that tract or parcel of land consisting of four hundred and thirty eight and ½ acres (438 ½ acres) lying and being situated in said Freestone County and described as follows towit. Beginning at the NE corner of a survey made for Thomas Womack and in the east boundary of ? Millicans surey of 2/3 of a league and a labor. A PO 5 inches in diameter for corner and another PO …… to have and to hold the said above described land unto the said CF and SW Harris their heirs and legal representatives forever and I the said CT Womack for and in consideration of the above described promissory Note hereby bind myself my heirs executors administrators and assigns to warrant and forever defend unto the said Charles F. Harris and Simeon W. Harris their heirs executors administrators and assigns the said above described land together with the rights members and appurtenances there unto belonging against all persons whosoever claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof. Intestimony whereof I hereunto set my hand and scrawl for seal this February 4th AD 1861 CT Womack State of Texas County of Freestone Before me JA Womack Clerk of the County Court of the aforesaid County personally came CT Womack who is to me well known and signed sealed and delivered the above and foregoing deed for all the purposes and considerations therein expressed and contained. In testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand and impress my seal on the 4th day of February AD 1861 J. A. Womack. Clerk 4th State of Texas County of Freestone. CF Harris to SW Harris Know all men by these presents that I Simeon W. Harris of said county and state for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred and nineteen dollars the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have this day bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents do grant bargain sell alien and convey unto Charles F. Harris of said county and state all my interest right and title being one half of said tract heretofore deeded to wit on the 4th day of February 1861 by Caroline T. Womack unto Chas. F. Harris and Simeon W. Harris jointly more particularly described as follows to wit, said tract contains four hundred and thirty eight and a half acres (438 ½) lying and being situate in said Freestone County and described as follows to wit ….. To have and to hold unto the said CF Harris his heirs and legal representatives forever I said SW Harris for and in consideration of the above mentioned sum of money hereby find myself my heirs executors administrators and assigns to warrant and foreverdefend unto the said Charles F. Harris his heirs executoprs administrators and assigns my interest (being the one half of the above described land together with the rights members and appurtenances thereunto belonging against all persons whomsoever claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof. In testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal using scroll for seal this 21st day of February AD 1862. SW Harris The State of Texas, Freestone County. Personally appeared before me JA Womack, clerk of the county court of said county Thomas B. Grayson who is to me well known and whose genuine signature appears to the foregoing deed from SW Harris to CF Harris the grantor of said deed whose name is signed to the same sign seal and deliver the said deed for the purposes and considerations therein set forth and that the affiant signed the same as a witness thereto at the request of the said grantor. Given unto my hand and the seal of the county court of said county the 21st day of February 1862 JA Womack, Clerk by JM Henderson Dept I certify that the foregoing deed from SW Harris to CF Harris was filed in my office for record the 21st day of February 1862 at 3 o’clock pm and that the same with the proof thereto, is this day duly recorded. Given under my hand the 22nd day of February, 1862 JA Womack, Clerk, by JM Henderson, Dept. 5th The State of Texas, County of Freestone Know all men by these presents that we DC Rutherford and SE Rutherford his wife of the aforesaid County and state for and in consideration of the sum of fifteen hundred dollars (1500$) to us in hand paid by CT Harris of said County and State the receipt whereas is hereby acknowledged have this day bargained sell released convey unto the said CT Harris the following described tract of land to wit beginning at the NW corner of a four hundred and thirty eight and a half acres tract of the Channel of Pin Oak Creek….. And we DC Rutherford and SE Rutherford for and in consideration of fifteen hundred dollars to us in hand paid hereby bind ourselves our heirs executors administrators or assigns to forever warrant and defend the right or title together with all the improvements appurtenances belonging to said tract of land unto the said CT Harris her heirs or assigns, in testimony whenof witness our hands and scroll for seals on this the ? day of October, AD 1865. The word CT Womack in the 17th line and CF and SW Harris interviewed previous to signing. DC Rutherford and SE Rutherford. 6th State of Texas County of Navarro Know all men by these presents that I William M Love am held and firmly bound unto Orther Harris in the penal sum of one thousand dollars witness my hand and seal ? The conditions of the above bond are such that the said Harris has this day bought a certain or parcel of land for which the said Harris paid the some of twenty five dollars and has executed his note for four hundred and twelve dollars the said land is part of the head right of Wiley Carter three fourths of a league and labor of land situated in Freestone County and bounded as follows …….Now therefore if the above bound Love shall make or cause to be made to the said Harris or his heirs then the above to be null and void otherwise to remain in full force and effect. Witness my hand and scroll for a seal this 24th day of October 1865 in presence of Karner and Jas. R Williamson. Signed: William M Love State of Texas County of Freestone Before me JA Womack clerk of the county court in and for said county personally appeared John Karner to me well known who is an attesting witness to the within instrument of writing and who states on oath that he saw William M Love sign the same on the day it ? date for all the purposes therein contained and expressed that he witnessed the same at the request of said Love and that he saw Jas. R. Williamson the other attesting witness sign his name as witness thereto—thereto given under my hand with the seal of the county court on the 23rd day of January AD 1866 NOTES: I still don’t know who Simeon W. Harris was or how he was related to the Green / Pickens County (Alabama) Harris families. However, the fact that he was in the same time and place indicates that he was directly related to Charles F Harris. I also haven’t found Simeon W. Harris in the 1850, 1860 or 1870 census. I hate to assume that he died until finding an official record stating that he was deceased. Any new information theories or even ideas gratefully accepted.
