    1. [HH] Re: Documentation On Robert Harris of Ware Creek
    2. Ira L. Harris III
    3. Dear Harris Researchers, On Friday, November 14th, I posted a clarification concerning the family group of Robert Harris of Ware Creek, York County, Virginia. This was posted in response to a question from E. W. Wallace. On Sunday, November 16th, I received a response from Pam. Her comments are valid. I did not post documentation because I was fishing for further information that might help clarify and document the relationships listed on my original post of November 13th. Even after 30+ years of research I am not satisfied with the documentation I have. BUT HERE are some of the sources I have used so far in coming up with this possible family group. 1. "Harris and Allied Families of Claiborne, Gillison, Thompson and Whitsett" by Maude Callaway Hays, 1953 2. Harris Family Genforum (various queries and responses) 3. Rootsweb.com (various queries and responses) 4. Historic Southern Families, by Boddie, Especially Volumes 5 and 19 5. Daughters of the American Colonists, Volume 19 6. Tidewater Virginia Families (magazine), Volume 11, # 1, page 14-20 10. Browne's Genesis 11. The Virginia Genealogist, Volume 25, (1981), pages 191-199 12. Harris Family record by Thomas Henry Harris of Fredericksburg, Va. 13. Tidewater Virginia Families: Generations Beyond by Virginia Lee Hutcheson Davis 14. History Of Louisa County, Virginia by Dr. Malcolm Hart Harris 15. Correspondence with several of the descendants of various lines 16. Census Records 17. Virginia Tax Records 18. Several County Histories 23. Chalkley's Virginia 24. Virginia Gleanings In England Here are some of the resources that I have used to piece together this family group. If I led you astray, it was not on purpose. If I did I apologize for inconveniencing you or leading you astray. I have not found a serious researcher who is ever satisfied with their documentation. As I have said several times, and many others have also said, YOU MUST document and re-check your documentation. Don't trust the documentation without checking it. Your interpretation may not be the same as mine. You may not come up with the same conclusions. I hope this further clarification helps.\ Ira L. Harris III Evansville, Indiana
