I have that this is the will of William Harris (b. 1710, Hanover County, Virgina - d. 1779, Mecklenburg County, Virginia) who married (abt. 1729) Judith Hudson (b. abt. 1715, Henrico County, Virginia - d. 1798, Mecklenburg County, Virginia). Judith was the daughter of Peter Hudson and possibly Martha Briggs Woodson. I have that this William is a descendant of the line of Capt. Thomas Harris and Audry "Audria" Hoare. MECKLENBURG COUNTY, VIRGINIA, Will Book 1, page 297, 1765-1782 THE WILL OF WILLIAM HARRIS In the name of God amen, I William Harris of the County of Mecklenburg and parish Saint James being in perfect senses and memory thanks be to God for the same but calling to mind the uncertain state of this transitory life well knowing that all men are born to die and after that to come to judgment allows this to be my last will and testament first I give my soul to Almighty God that gave it and my body to the care and diligence of my executors, my will and desire is that all my debts dues and demands that I have against man or any man against me be contented and paid and now for settling my temporal estate Item: I give and bequethe to my son Peter Harris all that I have already given which he hath now in possession to him and his heirs forever. I give to my son William all that I have already given which he hath now in possession to him and his heirs forever. I give to my son James all that I have already given which he hath now in his possession to him and his heirs forever. I give to my son Sherwood one feather bed or fifteen pounds to him and his heirs forever. I give to my son Reuben one feather bed or fifteen pounds to him and his heirs forever. I give to my son Charles one feather bed or fifteen pounds to him and his heirs forever. I give to my son Samuel one horse and feather bed or fifty pounds to him and his heirs forever. I give to my son John one horse and feather bed or fifty pounds. I give to my son Claiborn one horse and feather bed or fifty pounds to him and his heirs forever. I give to my son Robert one hundred and fifty acres of land including the plantation whereon I now live, one horse and feather bed or fifty pounds but if he should die without issue lawfully begotten of his body then I give the land to my son Claborn and if he should die without issue lawfully begotten then I give said land to my son John to him and his heirs forever. I give to my daughter Martha one negro boy named Ned but if the said negro boy die before she marry's or come to the age of twenty one then my will is that she have an equal share with the rest of my children herafter named likewise I give to my daughter Martha one horse and feather bed to her and her heirs forever. I lend to my loving wife Judith the residue of my other estate both real and personal within doors and without including negroes cash and stocks of every kind and household furniture during her widowhood and then to be equally divided among my children William Harris, James, Sherwood, Reuben, Charles, Samuel, John, Claborn, and Robert and last of all I appoint my firends Mark Moore, William Hudson and my sons William and Reuben executors of this my last will and testament. It appears this must mean that the estate remained intact until the death of the widow, Judith Harris. Will book 3, page 384, 1788-1798 Estate of the late William Harris, deceased brought in November 9, 1796 by William Lucas, Richard Ragsdale, Richard Winn then returned November 1797.
