Hi, Harrises, Looking for descendants of Johnson Harris, b. 1822 in Wilkes Co., NC [son of Squire HARRIS & Mary Ann Elizabeth PHILLIPS {and grandson of William & Sarah HARRIS of VA & NC.}] Johnson & Martha "Matty" [UNKNOWN] married unknown place, probably Russell Co., VA? Johnson and Martha were recorded 1850 in Russell Co., VA; in 1860 in Carter Co., KY; in 1870 in Carter Co., KY; and 1880 in Kandiyohi Co., MN [the only Harris family in that place that census year.] Johnson and Martha had children: 1. George A. Cowan Harris b. 1847, b. Russell Co., VA [recorded as "Cowan"] 2. Squire Q. Harris b. 1849, Russell Co., VA 3. Nancy Harris b. 1850, Russell Co., VA 4. John H. [A.?] Harris b. 1855, Russell Co., VA 5. Thomas R. Harris b. 1860, Carter Co., KY 6. Margaret Harris b. 1864, Carter Co., KY 7. Martha Harris b. 1867, Carter Co., KY 8. Lafayette Harris b. 1869, Carter Co., KY 9. Napolean B. Harris b. 1871, Carter Co., KY --- The 1890 census has been, for the most part, totally destroyed, so it is difficult to follow any lines that were not absolutely immobile in the same place between 1880 & 1900 (that is quite a lot of years---in some cases, it would encompass the last record of one generation of a family, and the first record of the next generation.) Given the history of this particular branch of my Harris family, the descendants of any of these persons could have ended up anywhere in the U.S. Does anyone out there recognize any of the persons I have documented?
