Notes for CHARLES WATSON NEWTON: At a court martial held at the "Spreading Oak" on 2 Nov 1832 there is a notation that he was under Capt. Peter H. Ford. The "Spreading Oak" was a field on a plantation belonging to Samuel Shepard, situated off Route 13.
