That it was it stated per his grandmothers wish. . It was fron Surry Co. Deeds. in this time frame. I dont know any of the Harrises in St. Martins Parrish Darlene Response and Question:  Depending on the time period, St. Martin's Parish included Hanover Co., one of those "burned counties" of Virginia. According to the index of this book:  Rosalie Edith Davis, HANOVER COUNTY, VIRGINIA COURT RECORDS 1733-1735:  Deeds, Wills and Inventories [Manchester, MO:  1979], these Harrises are included in her abstracts. Benjamin David Edward Elizabeth [wife of James Harris, who is associated with witnesses:  Robert Harris, Robert Harris, Jr., Wm. Harris - land near Little River] George J. James [see Elizabeth above] John John, Jr. Mourning [the wife of Robert Harris, later surveyor in Louisa Co., which was formed from Hanover Co.] Richard Robert [many references] Robert, Jr. [witness as above] Sarah [witness to a deed of Mary Anderson of St. Paul's Par., Hanover Co., widow of Robert Anderson; other witnesses:  Thos. Crenshaw, Richard [R] Lancaster. Stephen Thomas [witness to a deed of one Lancelot Amrstrong, dtd June 1734.  Thomas Harris's lines are mentioned in another deed of Robert Thomson of St. Martin's Par. to Thomas Tullock of St. Paul's Par. dtd Apr 1734; other landmarks:  Overtons line on the north side of the so. fork of Pamunkie River-- a black Gum on Little River; George Cox's line] William Comment 1:  Thomas Harris's land near Overton's line and the Pamunkey River would strongly suggest (but does not prove) that he was linked to the William Harris-Temperance Overton family of that area.  Does anyone have better information?  Please share--we're dying to know. Comment 2:  Could Darlene Potter give us the exact wording of the Surry Co. document to which she refers? E.W.Wallace
