In 1898, Monroe Anderson Harris, who was born in Buckingham Co, VA on 12/15/1817, told his grandson that the early Harris home was on a high bluff overlooking James River called Stony Point Plantation. His father William C. Harris, born 10-12-1781, in a letter he wrote when his wife Judith Griswold Harris died in 1843 indicates he was living not far from New Canton, which may have been in northeast corner of Buckingham county.
