Hi, You ask. When and why Isham moved from Isle of Wight, VA to Granville County, NC. According to Robert E. Harrris' book, West, Sr. and Mary moved there with their family about 1746. At that time Isham was five years old. West moved from there to Montgomery County by 1774. At that time Isham would have been 33 years old so apparently he stayed in Granville. My wife is descended from Rowland who is Isham's brother. Most of Rowland's descendants settled in Stanly County, NC which was split off from the western part of Montgomery. Isham Harris was also born in Isle of Wight Co., but died in Granville Co., NC. From there forward, everyone was born and died in Granville Co. I'm not sure when or why Isham Harris moved to Granville Co.; I need to check that out. Does anyone know? > > As far as I've seen, I'm first to post a line from Hanson Harris. It's interesting - most people simply list him as a son with no further information about him. Actually, my grandmother remembered Hanson from her early childhood - I think she was 7 when he died. > > Larealia, I may find the information you're seeking when I get on with my research.
