Dear Listers, This is a very knowledgeable list--lots of people have done their Harris & associates homework! As some of you know, Major Robert Harris of colonial Louisa and Albemarle Cos. had a wife Mourning Glen[n] ? [STB=said to be]. Mourning [Glen] Harris died testate before March 1776. Her husband died testate 1765, and, as I understand my reading of books, films, and various e-mails, Robert had probates in both Louisa Co. and in Albemarle Co. I located this abstracted will of one James Glen, and I need some interpretation of the relationships. Of course, the named grandchildren are grandchildren of the testator, James Glen, but who are the parents of these children? Further question: Is James Glen the father of Mourning Glen, or is he a brother? He died a few years before Mourning, making him a contemporary. Of course, Robert Harris & Mourning had a son named Tyree Harris, but he is not the only person with that name. I can share some information concerning Tyree Harris, son of Major Robert Harris, but I know little of the like-named persons Here is the abstracted will of James Glen of Hanover Co. "James Glen Hano-St. Martin 11 Jun 1762/3 Feb 1763 Son Gideon Glen. Son Nehemiah+ Glen land bound by a plan drawn by Robert Harris. Son Nathan Glen. Son James Glen. Daughter Gemima Symes. (Virginia Genealogical Society Quarterly V. 14, pp. 84-87." as quoted in William Lindsay Hopkins, SOME WILLS FROM THE BURNED COUNTIES (Richmond: 1987). (If you use this material, please use the citation also.) You help in analyzing this abstracted deed will be of tremendous help. Thanks in advance. E.W.Wallace
