He died May 10, 1850, Pikeville, Marion County, Alabama John Dabney Terrell, Sr. was an Alabama State Senator from 1819-1821. During his tenure as State Senator he served one term as President of the Alabama State Senate. He represented Marion County, Alabama at the State Constitutional Convention in 1819 and was one of the forty-five signers of the Alabama Constitution. He was a State Representative from Marion County, Alabama in 1822. John Terrell was also an Indiana Agent appointed by President Andrew Jackson for the Chickasaw Nation. Later he was appointed first Territorial Judge of Marion County, Alabama to establish county government. Before moving to Alabama from Georgia he was a member of the Georgia Legislature, Justice of Inferior Court, and an officer in the Georgia Militia. John Dabney Terrell, Sr. was the son of Henry & Anne Dabney Terrell. Henry Terrell was the son of Joe & Sarah Elizabeth (Oxford) Terrell. Anne Dabney Terrell was the daughter of John & Anna (Harris) Dabney.
