For those hoping to find a few records of colonial Hanover Co., VA and hoping to find some Harrises (not all related) you are invited to try to find the online database (through your local or nearby public library) HeritageQuest. See end of this message. This item at the very end refers to an early parish record, with a number of Harrises in it. Go to the very end to find a surname index. Maybe places are indexed, too, but I did not check. Then check the Harris land patents which are online at the Library of Virginia website. Go to Land Records on the alpha index, and seek the item with the words *Northern Neck land grants*. Hanover Co. is not a Northern Neck county. The oldest patents will be at the very end of the Harris list. I note that some 21st century land grants are still being granted. (That new land must be drained swamps!) Here is the book which is on HeritageQuest. C G Chamberlayne The vestry book of St. Paul's Parish, Hanover County, Virginia, 1706-1786 Richmond: The Library Board, 1940, 695 pgs E.W.Wallace
