Dr. Ephraim Drake Harris was the first husband of my GG Grandfather's (Benjamin Wesley Hunt) 2nd wife (Sarah Ann Hardin). NOTE: I am the daughter, sister, and cousin of yDNA Group 30 Harrises. My association with Ephraim Drake Harris, probably yDNA Group 8, is distant, by marriage and on my mother's side. Timeline: 1816 - Born, probably in Surry Co, NC to Ephraim and Margaret (Foote) Harris bef 1836 - married first wife Mary Moore Clement 1836 - Surry County, NC rec/d land from his father-in-law, Johnson CLEMENT bef 1845 - Daughter Mary Moore Clement Harris. she was raised by her maternal grandparents after her mother died. She married John Taylor and had 10 children with him. 1841 - Had son, Morgan C (think this DoB is off and that he was born a few years earlier) bef 1845 - first wife, Mary Moore Clement died in Missouri bef 1845 - Ephraim moved to Johnson Co, MO with his son, Morgan C. 1845 - married Martha E Smith in Johnson Co, MO btwn 1846-51 - Postmaster of Basin Knob, Johnson Co, MO bef 1850 - second wife, Martha E Smith died (probably without having any children) 1850 - Living with his son by first marriage, Morgan C, in District 16, Cass Co, MO btwn 1850-1853 - Married Sarah Hardin in Missouri or on their way west. Sarah Ann Hardin was born on Jul 22, 1828 in Oldham, KY. She was the daughter of Henry Hardin, Jr. (1801-1859) and Mary (Polly) Phillips (1803-1866). [NOTE: another of their daughters, Irene Francis (1822-1891) married William H Rogers and were the adoptive parents of my GGrandfather James Taylor Rogers (ne Taylor Logan) 1853 - Ephraim immigrated west in the wagon train of Col James Hardin’s (Sarah's brother) 1854 - Daughter Sarah Hennie born in Oregon 1855 - Settled in Mendocino Co, CA 1860 - Son Ephraim Drake born in Mendocino Co on Feb 19th 1860 - Moved to Analy, Sonoma, CA with Sarah, their children Sarah and Ephrain, Jr and Sarah's mother, Mary Hardin 1865 - Ephraim died in Santa Rosa, Sonoma Co, CA on Nov 21st. He was buried in the Santa Rosa Rural Cemetery near his 3rd wife (Sarah), her 2nd husband (Benjamin Wesley Hunt), daughter (Sarah Henne), and Benjamin Wesley Hunt’s first wife Elizabeth Yates Sullivan. 1868 - Ephraim's daughter Sarah died on Mar 27th in Sebastopol in Sonoma Co, CA. She was buried in the Santa Rosa Rural Cemetery near her father. 1882 - Ephraim's son Ephraim Drake Harris, Jr married Sarah A Crommett on Oct 11. They lived in Oakland, CA and had two children: Maude Ethel (1883-1953) and Drake Edwin (d 1967) 1915 - His 3rd wife, Sarah Hardin Harris Hunt died on Aug 8, 1915 in Santa Rosa, Sonoma Co, CA. She was buried in the Santa Rosa Rural Cemetery, sharing a gravestone with her 2nd husband, Benjamin Wesley Hunt. Her epitaph read: Sarah A Hunt/Born July 22 1828/A member of the M. E. Church South/Died Aug 8, 1915
