    3. Hi, all, Took a couple of days off to do some housecleaning. More from Cedar Creek Meeting, etc. I got a little ahead of myself, and missed several important records prior to the marriage of Rachel Harris & Clark Terrell Moorman in December of 1770, and the disownment of Jeremiah in 1784, daughter & son of Benjamin & Sarah Dumas Harris. So here they are. [James Harris was the son of Benjamin & Sarah Dumas Harris] - p. 97: 8/8/1772. John HARRIS, Pleasant HARRIS and Moses HARRIS appointed to inquire into some matters conserning Zacha STANLY [Stanley] before he be reseved. [Only record of Pleasant Harris in these minutes.] - p. 100: 10/4/1773. Thos HUTCHENS and Patte CHILES [Patty Chiles] published their intentions of marriage. Archaldus STANLY and John PAYNE appointed to make inquirey respecting preengagement. [As previously stated, Thomas Hutchens was the son of Strangeman & Elizabeth Cox Hutchens; Martha? "Patty" Chiles, b. 1757, was the daughter of Menoah & (2) Anne Cheadle Chiles of Caroline Co., VA {this book, p. 1.} Patty Chiles Hutchens died aged no more than 19; she & Thomas had two daughters: Anne & Elizabeth Hutchens {b. 1776, Caroline Co., VA; d. 1841, Wilkes Co., NC.} Elizabeth Hutchens traveled to North Carolina with her grandparents and stepmother, and was received into membership of the Deep River Monthly Meeting at High Point in Guilford Co. October 2, 1786 { HINSHAW, William Wade: Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy:, Vol. 1: North Carolina; With Supplement to Vol. 1, by Thomas Worth Marshall; Originally Published, 1936, by W. W. Hinshaw, Anne Arbor, MI; Supplement to Vol. 1, Originally Published, 1948, by T. W. Marshall, Washington, D.C.; Reprinted, 1969, by Genealogical Publishing Co., Baltimore, MD, USA; LOC #68-31728; p. 820.} Elizabeth Hutchens was disowned by the Deep Creek Meeting, an off-shoot of Deep River, in 1797 for "marrying out"; she had married in 1795. Her husband was a well-educated Methodist named James Smith {b. 1766 in England, emigrated 1790 to Delaware, and d. 1849 in Wilkes Co., NC.} Thomas Hutchens apparently had cordial relations with James Smith, as he sold him land. James Smith's family Bible has been passed down through their descendants; in it, James recorded the births of each of their children, and listed most of their spouses. Their third child, Hannah Smith {b. 1799, Surry Co., NC, d. 1879, Alleghany Co., NC} married William Lewis Harris {b. 1804, Surry Co., NC, d. 1898, Alleghany Co., NC, son of Silas & Eda Franklin Harris of Surry Co.} {GROEGER, Barbara Johns: Out on a Limb; Copyright, 1960, by B.J. Groeger of San Diego, California; Published, 1960 by Photo Arts, Inc., El Cajon, California, USA; p. 23.} {And numerous other sources...} William Lewis & Hannah Smith Harris are the ancestors of my sons on their paternal side.] - p. 112: 23/2/1776. Samuel HARGRAVE, Pleasants TERRELL & James HARRISS request certificates as they purpose travilling to the southward province. Micajah TERRELL & Thomas TERRELL appointed to make necessary enquirey. [James HARRIS was the son of Benjamin & Sarah Dumas HARRIS] - p. 112: 23/2/1776. Samuel HARGRAVE, James HARRISS & Micajah TERRELL appointed to attend the Quarterly meeting. - p. 112: 9/3/1776. Representatives appointed to attend the monthly meeting are for Cedar Creek, James CREW, Clark Terrell MOORMAN & Moses HARRISS who were present. [James CREW {husband of Judith}& Clark Terrell MOORMAN {husband of Rachel} were the sons-in-law of Benjamin & Sarah Dumas HARRIS] - p. 112: 13/4/1776. Representatives from Jeneto [Genito, Goochland Co.] are James HUNNICUTT & John BARNETT; from Caroline Micajah & Pleasant TERRELL; from Cedar Creek Thomas HUTCHINGS & Clark Terrell MOORMAN, who were present. - p. 112: 13/4/1776. James CREW and Moses HARRISS appointed to draw a certificate for Nicholas STONE agreeable to act of assembly and direct same to the chief commanding officer in Goochland Co, also for James HUNNICUTT, John HUNNICUTT & Joseph HUNNICUTT to be directed to the Col of Cumberland Co, Samuel HARGRAVE and Pleasants TERRELL to do the same for Micajah & Archilles MOORMAN in Caroline Co. - p. 112: 11/5/1776. Representatives from the preparative meetings: for Caroline Pleasant TERRILL & Samuel HARGRAVE, from Cedar Creek Jerimiah HARRIS, James CREW & Clark Terrill MOOREMAN [Moorman.] [Jeremiah HARRIS was the son of Benjamin & Sarah Dumas HARRIS; recall that he married Anne CHEADLE, daughter of Menoah & Anne Cheadle CHILES of Caroline Co., VA in 1765. Their children were: Sally, b. 1767 {Sarah}, John, b. 1769, Lucy, b. 1772 {Lucinda?}, Cheadle, b. 1774, Elizabeth, b. 1779, and Tyre, b. ca. 1782 {(1) this book, p. 3; and (2) DAVIS, Virginia, op. cit., p. 469 [[she cites HINSHAW, Wm. Wade: Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy, Vol. 6: Virginia, 1950.]])}] [I do not have access to this volume of Hinshaw's; if anyone else does, can you give a complete transcription of the Harris records in it & the complete and correct citation of the exact pages for them?
