Their son William Gilliam (1699) married Agnes Harris (1710) , and then William and Agnes' granddaughter Priscilla (1766) married James Harris (1763). Another granddaughter Elizabeth Gilliam (1769) married Ransom Harris (1764). And then there's the Martha Taylor Gilliam (1786) mentioned, who married Gideon Harris (1772) in that same line. (Not original research--I copied these dates from the internet.) The James Harris that Priscilla Gilliam married is a DNA 4; however, our Harris 8 Family Finders are picking up some part of the Gilliam autosomal DNA going through that couple. We believe that means that Agnes Harris up the line was an 8 or that the 8 Harris line contains major Gilliam strains from a line that would include William Gilliam. The line through Elizabeth Gilliam/Ransom Harris carries the FF for Sherod Alexander Harris 8 The line through Priscilla Gilliam/James Harris carries the FF line for Jerry Carter (Sherod Harris/Hannah Page) If you move up the line to Agnes Harris/William Gilliam, the following FFs come through their children: William Gilliam/Elizabeth Cheatham (Sherod Alexander Harris 8 & Jerry Carter 8) Winnefred Gilliam/Peter Kimball (Jimmy Richard Harris 8 & Lorene Harris 8.) Jimmy goes through son Buckner Kimball and Lorene goes through son Peter Kimball and the name evolves into Kimbrell . Jimmy and Lorene both come from the Edward Harris line of Twitty Creek (old Brunswick>Lunenburg>Charlotte VA) who was said to have married a widow Gilliam. If she was a widow, I can't say she was a Gilliam, unless she was a Gilliam married to a deceased Gilliam; Deed records show that Edward had a wife Ann in 1766. Bk 1, p. 123 84. p. 123. __ ___ 1766. Edward Harris of Cornwall Parish Charlotte Co. to Henry Isbell of same, for 30 pounds, 100 acres in Charlotte on Reads Fork.[Note: this is proved to be Reece's Fork by comparison with the neighboring land deeds - Pat] All waterways and appurtenances. Ann, wife of***** Edward Harris, mentioned. Signed: Edwd. Harris Witness: none Recorded: 7 Oct 1766 We hope to have a major Gilliam line in the Family Finder in July that may really help on these lines. The origin of all the Gilliam names appears to come with Minyard (of Edward) adopting the Gilliam children of William Gilliam d 1772 married to deceased Mary assumed to be Harris. The adopted children were Charles Gilliam, Minyard Gilliam, Harris Gilliam, and Martha Gilliam . There may have been children already of age, also. Charles married Sarah Smith and died in Franklin TN Minyard Gilliam & unknown married and he died in Burke NC post 1830 Harris Gilliam married his cousin Mavan Harris d/o Edward II, bro to Minyard Martha Gilliam may have married an Edward Harris cousin. Greg Gilliam can correct my notes!! Pat COURT AND ROAD ORDERS 7 DEC 1772 CHARLOTTE MOTION OF MAYNARD HARRIS TO ADOPT GILLIAM CHILDREN PG 214 There is a question now whether the Sr. Edward Harris moved to NC with his children, as there is a late deed for an Edward Harris of Charlotte VA buying property in the area of Ward's Fork north of the Roanoke/Staunton River. 3. Pat, I sent a post yesterday identifying James  Harris  who married Priscilla Giliam and Elizabeth Gilliam who married  Ransom Harris. Both Harrises are sons of Isham and Martha Harris and grandsons of West and Mary Turner Harris. James died in Spartenburg, SC   They were brothers to my Wiley Harris who married Elizabeth Hearne. I didn't see this posted. William Gilliam was the father of Priscilla and Elizabeth but no one has given proof of the maiden name of William's wife. They had another sister who married Isham HARRISON. Ransom Harris left a will but  no one has found one for James. I will be happy to help on any of these lines Barbara.barbhens@sbcglobal.net --- On Wed, 5/23/12, PatCLARE@aol.com <PatCLARE@aol.com> wrote: From: PatCLARE@aol.com <PatCLARE@aol.com> Subject: [HARRIS-HUNTERS] Harris/Gilliam/Kimball/Cheatham To: harris-hunters@rootsweb.com Date: Wednesday, May 23, 2012, 6:44 AM In a message dated 5/23/2012 12:37:30 A.M.
