I would like to thank our researchers who have submitted important information to our list. Ann Gary, we appreciate your information on DNA line 3. Pam Stone, thank you for your material on Harris DNA line 6 with the Benjamin Harris notes. Evelyn Wallace, thank you for your many contributions to our HH list and your histories on Group 6. Glenn Gohr...many thanks for Harris Group 8 material. I can't list everyone, but thanks to all who have made this such a great list. For information on our many different Harris families (now over 50) please see Harrisdna.org go to results page. We should do a roll call for those people still searching for their families. If you have a Harris line anywhere that you need help with, please post your material to the list. We have a great group of helpful people who may be able to assist you to find your families. If you don't get an answer or reply, please know that your information will remain in the archives and somewhere down the road someone may come along who has the material you need. Can I start? I want to thank everyone that has contributed also. I do like to read the posts even though I do not find any connection yet since my brick wall stops in 1845. I have a Gillium that married a Harris in Cannon Co. TN. My ongoing search is John L. Harris b. 1822 VA/TN, census varies. Some people say L. stands for "Lee" which I have no documentation. He also goes by J. L. Harris. He does have a son named John Lee Harris, so I'm not counting it out. I first find him married to Sarah Bryson in 1845 Cannon Co. TN and he died there in 1913. Unfortunately records were burnt, my dad was born there in 1913 also. John L. is listed in the harrisdna.org unmatched group. Any clues will be appreciated. Thank you all. Pat and everyone, Thank you for expressing appreciation of my little contributions to the early history of the Harrises of Virginia (and other places over the years...) My feeling is that I have spent years and years researching and documenting various Harrises in many places, and I don't want this work to be lost to any future generations that may need it. Yes, it has cost a lot of money to accumulate all of the documents of so many Harrris lines. (So what? What is the use of spending all of this money, just to have all of the paperwork you spent the money on thrown into the landfill when you die?) When my grandchildren (or my great-great-grandchildren) (or any of YOUR great-great-grandchildren) go looking for where they came from, I want them to be able to find the documentation they need. My personal Harris genealogical hero, who has NEVER held back one iota of his research is Ira Harris III. So thanks to everyone, but especially, thank you, cousin Ira! YOU are the one who started this entire free-sharing of documentation thing on this list...And this is the ONLY LIST who freely-shares their documents (at least some of us do.) Thank you, IRA!
