    1. Re: [HARRIS-HUNTERS] Harrises and the GILLIUM/GILLIAM lines

    3. First of all, thank you for the great information on the Quaker family of Benjamin and Sarah Harris. Secondly, that's a great website with all of the Harris Gilliams and Gilliam Harrises. About the Harris-Gilliam connection, would it be from the line of Richard Gilliam (1657 New Kent, Virginia) and Margaret Lawson (1659 New Kent, Virginia)? Their son William Gilliam (1699) married Agnes Harris (1710) , and then William and Agnes' granddaughter Priscilla (1766) married James Harris (1763). Another granddaughter Elizabeth Gilliam (1769) married Ransom Harris (1764). And then there's the Martha Taylor Gilliam (1786) mentioned, who married Gideon Harris (1772) in that same line. (Not original research--I copied these dates from the internet.) Also, Mary Giles. Is that still controversial? Last name "Giles"? Perhaps "Chiles"? Something else? Two people named Mary Giles? Wife of William Harris or Thomas Harris? Perhaps of John Edward Harris? Because somebody's son, perhaps William Harris and Mary Giles' son, William Harris (abt 1695) might have married Mary Gilliam (abt 1705). And that line also goes down to the same Gideon Harris (1772) and Martha Taylor Gilliam (1786). I wonder if any of these two families, Gilliams and Harrises, were Quaker.
