Hi, all you Harris folks, I have to tell you all that, as a daughter of a really old family of Virginia [the Heywarton/Howerton line of Old Rappahannock/Essex Cos., VA, I have always been really disappointed with the lack of research on any descendants of the daughters of the various lines I have researched. Therefore, I have made it a special project of my own to record any marriages and descendants of whatever line I have researched, if it was in the records I had at hand. So I have recorded the daughters of Benjamin & Sarah Dumas Harris, with their spouses and children, where I could find them, and they are included in this research. Here's the 16th installment of the Benjamin & Sarah Dumas Harris family of Hanover, Goochland & Louisa Cos., VA. I forgot to make note that John Ladd & Unity Harris (daughter of Benjamin & Sarah Dumas Harris) announced their intention to marry at Cedar Creek meeting on October 13th, 1764, and John Harris and James Crew were appointed to represent Cedar Creek meeting at their marriage. John Ladd presented his certificate from the White Oak Swamp/Henrico Meeting. The couple was married at Cedar Creek the 11th day of November, 1764 (he was described as "of Charles City Co.", VA, and she was noted as the daughter of Benja Harris. Her brothers, Obediah & James, attended) [Brewer, op. cit., pp. 77, 78.] The couple moved to the White Oak Swamp, Henrico meeting, where they raised their children, as shown by their family record below. [Unity Harris Ladd was the daughter of Benjamin & Sarah Dumas Harris. Guilielma is Latin for the name Willielma {or, in the more familiar Germanic naming tradition, Wilhemina.} The naming of this daughter may have come from the unknown Charles City Co. Ladd line, as it is not one from this Harris line, as far as I know.] ==================================== Brewer, op. cit. p. 140: 8/11/1783.
