Hi Wanda - - Burning the records poses all sorts of annoying roadblocks for genealogists in subsequent years. However, I heard a story about what happened tin one No Tennessee courthouses in - - not only did the invading army burn the papers, but threw the clerk (or whomever it was who way trying to stop them) on top of the fire along with the documents!
