Source: Evansville Courier & Press Evansville, Indiana Barbara Jean Johnson Harris Barbara, after an illness and a faithful fight, entered into eternal rest at 9:30 p.m. March 29, 2004, at Deaconess Hospital, Evansville, Indiana. She was 70. She was a native of Greenville, Mississippi, and the daughter of the late John and Arnell Young. She attended St. John's Catholic School on Bellemeade and graduated from Memorial High School in 1953. She was a faithful member of St. John's Catholic Church. Barbara was a homemaker and was dearly loved by her many family and friends. She had an open door to those in need of housing and food. Always with a happy smile. She was an excellent cook and loved to dance and had danced on Soul Train. She leaves to mourn her death and miss her sweet spirit, her son, Stephen Young of Germany; a devoted sister, Gwendolyn Anne Wagner of Evansville; 3 brothers, John and Michael of California, and Gregary Young of New York; a grandchild, Siani Atani Young; nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Services 11 a.m. Monday, April 5, at St. John's Catholic Church on Bellemeade, with Sister Jane Nesmith officiating, burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation is 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday at Mason Bros. Memorial Chapel and 6 to 9 p.m. at the church. Mason Bros. Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
