One of the subscribers comments that he KNOWS the dates of birth and death of his ancestors. I think that is absolutely wonderful, and I think that person is indeed fortunate. He must have New England ancestry!!! Those of us who have Colonial Virginia ancestry (or ancestors from any other southern Colony) do NOT have exact dates. Most of us have to use *circa [ca.]* or *about* because few if any tombstones still exist; few church records of births exist; and so on. If I remember the first official birth records for states such as Virginia and Kentucky were prior to the Civil War -- ca. 1852 -- and the Civil War ended that practice. I do think that subscriber is indeed fortunate!!! E.W.Wallace One of the first lectures given in genealogy classes is how to estimate the dates of births for certain persons.
