Hi, all, I can help sort out a couple of these Harrises in this area. William "Herris" the family I have been researching, along with several other great researchers. He was born about 1750- 1752, we are almost positive in VA; was in Culpeper Co., VA in 1781, location unknown in 1782 [not on tax lists in Culpeper]; moved to Surry after the Revolutionary War, then to Wilkes Co.; moved to Ashe Co., NC about 1796 and stayed there until about 1813, when he moved back to Wilkes. He filed for Rev War Pension in Wilkes in 1819 & 1820, and proved service of 8 years in the war. He lived to be a very old guy, dying in 1848. His wife was Sarah [maiden name unknown; d. bef. 1830]. Their children were: (1) Silas, b. 1775 [m. Edith "Ede" FRANKLIN, prob. dau. of John FRANKLIN of Stokes & Surry Cos., NC]; (2) [UNK. Dau. {Elizabeth?}], b. ca. 1786; (3) Mary, b. 1789 [d.s.p.]; (4) Lucinda, b. 1790 [m. Daniel FIELD{S}]; (5) Squire, b. 1792 [m. Mary Ann PHILLIPS] [moved to Kentucky]; (6) [UNK. son {John? Joseph?}], b. ca. 1796; (7) Margaret, b. 1797 [m. Joseph FIELD{S}]; (8) James, b. 1799 [m. Frances "Franky" FIELD{S}]; (9) Jacob, b. ca. 1802 [m. Virginia Jane CANADY/KENNEDAY/KENNEDY] [also moved to KY]. --- Robert Harris on this census came from Albemarle Co., VA, and was the son of Robert HARRIS & Mourning GLENN of Albemarle/Louisa Cos., VA (and brother of Christopher of Madison Co., KY.) Robert's wife was Lucretia BROWN, the daughter of Benjamin BROWN of Albemarle/Louisa. Robert purchased land on the Ararat River in Surry in 1778. He wrote his will in 1806 and died in 1809. His will makes no mention of Lucy, so she must have prececeased him. His children were (1?) Elijah [m. Mary/Carrie FORKNER, dau. of William & Susanna FORKNER]; (2?) Robert Jr. [d. bef. 1806], left heirs; (3?) Tyre [Rhodes Harris, moved to KY & wrote the family history]; (4?) Bezeleel Brown; (5?) Bernice [male]; (6?) Lucretia "Lucy" [m. HEAD, poss. William HEAD]; (7?) Martha "Patsy" [m. TURNER; d. bef. 1806, left heirs; (8?) Nancy [m. BURCH]; (9?) Nancy [m. Ratliff BOON]; (10?) Sarah [m. David BLACKWELL; Sarah d. bef. 1806, leaving heirs]. --- Moses, Jonathan & Matthew are mysteries. Jonathan, at one point, lived in what was then Wilkes Co., but what is now Ashe Co. They all left the area after a few years. Pam pamstone@digital.net ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ira L.
