The first is the Quit Rent Roll of 1704 that includes the fourteen counties that paid their tribute to the King. It is the only one that survived the years. The Original is in the British Public Record Office, and a hand-written transcript is in the Library of Congress,Washington, D.C. The second part of the Quit Rents of Virginia gives the five counties in the section of the state known as The Northern Neck. Their quit rents were paid to the Lords Proprietors, the Fairfax- Culpepper family. None of these records are in existence, but the names of the land owners are in the land grants of that period.
