Dear Harris Hunters, A handwritten page, author unknown, has been found among family papers that has created a mystery. It is entitled "Aunt Ann" witch was the name used by many for my grandmother, Missouri Ann HARRIS Ferguson. the following is from that paper: "Aunt Ann 1. Ancestry gr grf James Russell Harris In boat with Wash when crossed the Delaware. Had 40-50 skillets with iron lids long legs. Baked potatoes in ashes and fried meat & corn bread with salt & water. Bitter cold. Wash stood up to encourage men to get there in time for break. Washington asked for a man to take message. Hadn't had breakfast. Grabbed a corn pone and cold meat jumps on horse. Lost little finger at Brandywine. An arm at Trenton. Exhausted and carried off field at Ticonderoga. His son William Fielder Harris - born 1797 - - - -" We have excellent data on the life of William F. Harris. my g,g,grandfather who was identified in the Census of 150, "60, "70 and 1880 as being born in Kentucky in 1797. His middle name was recorded on land grant papers in Indiana as Fielding but as Fielder in several family reports. He married Maria (Mary) (Polly) Micklesbury in Shelby County, TN after his service in the War of 1812. I have his marriage and military records. He died in Willow Springs, Howell Co., MO in 1885. Does anyone have a James Russell Harris in their line who might be my missing link? Does anyone have a Fielding or Fielder who married a Harris? Any and all help appreciated. Claude A.
