HARRIS, EDMUND State of North Carolina Tyrrell County Book 2, page 2 Dated 14 July 1800 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the name of God amen: I, Edmund Harris of the State of North Carolina Tyrell County being weak of body but being of perfect mind and memory and calling to mind the mortality of my body knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die have made and constituted this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following. First and principally, I recommend my soul to the hand of God that gave it, Hoping at the glorious morning of the resurrection to receive full pardon of all my sins as for my body I commit to the earth from whence it was taken to buried in a decent manner at the discretion of my executors and as for what worldly goods it has pleased God to bless me I dispose of in the following manner. Item - I give and bequeath to my two sons Joseph Harris and Hesekiah Harris all my land to be divided as follows beginning at a persokon tree up the ditch to the back line the Westard part to Joseph and the Eastward part to Hesekiah but my will is that my wife Elizabeth have her life time on the part that give to Hesekiah. Item - I give and bequeath to my son Simeon Harris one hundred and fifty acres of swamp but his brother to work in it without paying tole but if he does without him to go to his brother Hesekiah. Item - Likewise I give to my son Simon one feather bed and furniture one cross cut say and one ax and hoe and one gun. Item - I give to my daughter Elizabeth Harris one bed and furniture one chest one tea kettle one earthen tea pot six pewter plate and six earthen plates and six spoons - Item - I give to my wife Elizabeth Harris one bed and furniture one small pot and chest one skillet. Item - I give to my son Hesekiah one bed and furniture one hand mill one great pot. Item - I give my mare and horse for the use of my family but if the mare prove with fold the colt I give to Hezekiah. Item - I give all my cattle for the use of my family and all my bees I give for the use of my family and all my sheep I give for the use of my family all my hogs I give for the use of my family. Item - I give to my son Hesekiah two ploughs two hoes and one ax and other tools that I have. Item - I give to my son Simon Harris one large pewter dish to two quart Basons. Item - I give to my son Hesekiah six earthen plates one two quart pewter bason. Item - I give to my daughter Elizabeth one half gallon bason to one small pewter dish one large earthen dish. Item - I give to my wife Elizabeth one case and bottles. Item - I give to my son Simon one large earthen bole. Item - I give to my Hesekiah one pair of fire dogs. Item - I give to my wife Elizabeth one woolen wheel and one linen wheel and one griddle and as for the rest of my property I give further. I give use of my family and I likewise constitute and appoint my well beloved wife Elizabeth Harris Executrix to this my last will and Testament and likewise disanul all other wills and testament by me and do acknowledge this to be my last will and Testament whereunto I the said Edmund Harris have set my hand and fixt my seal this fourteenth day of July one thousand eight hundred. Being in a low state of health, but of sound memory recollecting on the certainty of death, the uncertainty of life have made and ordained this to be my last will and testament in manner following Viz: First - I recommend my soul to the hands of a just God that gave it me and my body to the ground to be buried at the discretion of my executors. My will and desire is that all my just debts should be paid and all the rest of my estate that it hath been pleased God to bless me with I give and bequeath as follows. Item - I give and bequeath unto my beloved brotherinlaw Joseph Bateman one stock of bees to him and his heirs forever. Item - I give and bequeath to my brother Joseph Harris one stock of bees to him and his heirs forever. Item - I give and bequeath to my brother Hezekiah Harris all the rest of estate to him and his heirs forever. I do hereby nominate and appoint my brother Hezd.
