Hi... Once again, I'm working on "untangling" my Harris family. My first question is about Isham Harris and his spouse(s). The information handed down through my family is that Martha Rowland is my ancestor, but most of the posted information lists Isham's wife as Mable Martha Green. One database shows him with both as wives, marrying Martha Rowland abt. 1756 in Granville Co., NC and Mable Martha Green 1761 in Granville Co, NC. I know Isham's will lists his wife as Martha, but both were named Martha so that doesn't solve the problem. Both Rowland and Green appear as names of descendants, so that doesn't solve it either. Does anyone have documentation on these wives, and if so, which children go with which wife? Secondly, my family information shows Ransom Harris II as the father of Hanson Harris (b. abt. 1810 - info from the 1850 Census of Granville Co.) Hanson Harris married Marina Cole (daughter of John & Susannah Cole) on Dec. 22, 1830 in Granville Co., NC. Their children were Rowland Harris (b. 1828) and Willis Nelson Harris (b. Sept. 28, 1832 in Granville Co., NC) - both listed in the 1850 Census. Do anyone have any reference to Hanson Harris and his ancestors? I have no proof of this info, but it was given to me with specific dates as if copied from a family bible or the like. I do know the Harris family bible was passed to a daughter of Willis Harris. When she died, all her belongings went to a niece who either discarded it or has it packed away in her belongings and refuses to answer questions about the family. (Sigh!) Does anyone have any information on Hanson Harris? I know he remained in Granville Co., unlike most of his siblings and cousins. If anyone is interested in this line, I'll be happy to post what I have. Caroline McCall
