    1. [HH] Looking for Claibourne Harris, b. 1780s, prob. in N.C.
    2. Ira L. Harris III
    3. I am looking for a Claibourne (Claborn, Claiborne, Clayborn, Claburn) Harris who was born Bet. 1782-1788, probably in or around Granville County, North Carolina. He is the son of Goldman & Elizabeth (Bell) Harris. He is the grandson of Claiborne "Ned" & Judith (_______) Harris. Among the family such names as Claibourne (and its many spellings), Richard, John, Azael (Azell, Azel), Elizabeth, Jemima, Stephen, David, Thompson, William, Daniel, Johnson, Jane, and Katherine are used quite often. This Claibourne had (the best I can tell) at least two brothers, Azael Daniel Harris (Married Patience ____, died in Marion Co., Ala.) and Joshua B. (Married Hannah _____, died in Pendleton Dist., S.C. Most of my families during this time had numerous children, so I believe that there could have been several more brothers and sisters. If one of your Claibourne's fits this time period and area, please let me know. I am quite willing to share information. This is one of my "brickwalls" at present. Ira L. Harris III (male) Evansville, Indiana

    1. [HH] HARRIS: JOHN & JANE NORWOOD

    3. Looking for the family of JOHN HARRIS married to JANE NORWOOD abt. 1840 Mecklenburg Co.,VA or Granville Co., NC. John & Jane Norwood HARRIS were listed in the 1850 & 1860 Mecklenburg census w/ the following children: Sarah (Sally) Ann Harris m. to James Thomas OVERBEY 1857 Charles Harris William Alexander Harris (Alexander married in 1871, but died shortly afterwards) Salina Frances Harris m. to Rolin Yancey 1862 Susan Harris John (Judd) Harris (moved to Mobile, AL) John apparently died between the 1860 & 1870 census (no death records, wills or obits found). Jane appeared living w/ her son Wm. Alexander Harris in 1870 census, next door to Neverson Harris & Wm. Norwood (age 16) My great-grandparents, Sarah (Sally) Ann Harris & James T. Overbey moved to Mobile, AL abt 1867, but Salina & Rolin Yancey remained in Mecklenburg until their deaths (Salina in abt 1921/3) It is possible that Jane Harris was buried w/ the Yanceys, as we lost all trace of her after 1870. Does anyone have any info on the parents/siblings of John or Jane Norwood Harris of Mecklenburg Co, VA or Granville Co., NC? Other family names were: Overbey, Stovall, Marshall, Baptist & perhaps Neverson. Thank You, Beth Leney: leney@entouch.net
